JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Relief and Outreach will help carry forth the vision, development and continued growth of Lakewood Church’s Relief and Outreach Department. The ideal candidate will be capable of efficiently and responsibly utilizing Lakewood Church’s resources to oversee significant and sustainable efforts to help assist those in need. This includes oversight of relationships with community partners at a local and regional level and acting as a bridge internally to connect staff and volunteers with ongoing relief efforts. This also includes serving as a leader in further developing Lakewood Church’s emergency preparedness and disaster response programs.

This position reports to the Executive Director of Relief and Emergency Management

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Manage the daily activities of Lakewood Church’s Relief and Outreach Department
Manage the maintenance and development of a community network of Churches, nonprofits, like minded organizations, and others to provide opportunities to assist those in need on a continuous basis and in response to varying conditions such as natural and economic disasters, especially within the Gulf Coast region
Utilizing the community network, ensure that physical donations, supplies and goods-in-kind that we receive from partner Ministries, organizations and individuals are effectively and efficiently resourced in our region and work in partnership with Lakewood’s Relief Warehouse to accomplish this
Oversees and maintains the schedule of Relief and Outreach activities utilizing existing partnerships, new opportunities and active community engagement
Ensure the overall cohesiveness of Lakewood Church’s relief and outreach response programs
Working cooperatively internally and externally to oversee a schedule of staff and volunteers to assist with relief and outreach related events
Ensures effective implementation of disaster and emergency response plans, especially as it pertains to staff and volunteer preparedness and response, under the direction of the Executive Director
Serves as a key member of the Disaster Response Team to help oversee Lakewood Church’s response to disasters and emergencies
Ensure relief, outreach and disaster preparedness response teams are sufficiently staffed
Assist with oversight of training and policy rollout to staff and volunteers around areas related to relief, outreach, and response.
Provide detailed updates, metrics and reporting on Departmental projects and goals
Work collaboratively with M3 Director to assist with events, projects, outreaches, and opportunities as needed
Assist with planning and organizing the annual M3 Conference
Assist with planning and organizing other events and opportunities as needed by Associate Pastor Dr. Paul Osteen
Other relevant duties as assigned

MINISTERIAL DUTIES

This will also include:

Regular attendance at Church services and classes,
Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church.

QUALIFICATIONS

Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, values and core beliefs
A mature Christian that demonstrates Christ like character and a heart and passion to care for those in need
Effective team leadership and team management skills
Capable of discretion and tact when handling sensitive and confidential matters
Demonstrates both professionalism and empathy when interacting with others
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Efficient in multi-tasking, time management and prioritization of tasks
Familiar with development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs
Professional appearance and conduct
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to learn new systems, software and processes

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience
Minimum 2 years of management experience required
Prior experience in Ministry and/or Relief and Outreach related areas preferred
