Full Job Description
EARY CHILDHOOD TEACHER’S ASSISTANT
9 AM - 6 PM Monday-Friday
POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for supervising children ranging in age from 6 weeks to age 3 and following the approved curriculum and licensing requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide appropriate supervision and interaction with children, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring that required staff-child ratios are maintained
- Follow the approved curriculum at the direction of the Teacher and the Early Childhood Director
- Ensure active and open lines of communication with students and parents on a daily basis
- Manage student behavior in the classroom and throughout the campus by administering discipline following established behavior policies
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, spiritual, social and emotional development of students
- Keep classrooms clean and orderly by making sure tables are wiped after snacks and lunch, promptly cleaning up after any child’s accident, storing materials
- Complete student records such as accident reports and attendance
- Ensure that required supplies are in the room and available to the children, and communicate all program needs to the teacher
- Complete 24 hours of pre-service training and 24 hours of approved training per calendar year in accordance with day care licensing requirements
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Ability to effectively write reports and communications to students, colleagues, parents and staff
- Ability to speak clearly in English, hear and see clearly, walk at a normal to fast pace, bend and stoop, and carry up to 30 pounds
- Skill necessary to establish and maintain a safe, loving, healthy and creative environment
- Ability to physically participate in activities with the students such as outdoor games, sports, and field trips which may require extended periods outdoors, throwing or kicking a ball, walking long distances, etc.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education and/or Experience
Any combination of education, training, or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Eight hours pre-service childcare training is required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
First Aid and CPR certificate required annually
