The Elementary Curriculum Coordinator/Academic Advisor will assist the Elementary Principal and K-12 Curriculum Director in the selection and implementation of curriculum in K-5 classes, management of curriculum tracking systems, course planning, student testing and evaluation, student discipline management, and classroom instructor support, training, and improvement.

Assist the Elementary Principal and K-12 Curriculum Director with the selection and implementation of curriculum in elementary school.
Manage curriculum tracking systems which include course planning, assessment linking, scope and sequence, editing and entering new standards.
Manage curriculum needs of teachers and classrooms including purchasing.
Ensure teachers are keeping lesson plans and curriculum maps up to date by performing weekly checks.
Assist new teachers with training in ATLAS and FACTS.
Establish courses and rosters in FACTS each year for all elementary classes.
Ensure data in FACTS is correct before report cards are sent each quarter.
Create and maintain class list by grade level.
Assist elementary principal with new hires by reviewing resumes, coordinating schedules, assisting with interviews, and calling references.
Coordinate ACSI elementary events.
Roster students, train, and support teachers for MAP testing K-5.
Collect and analyze academic data from MAP Growth results and support teachers with establishing SMART goal based on this data.
Conduct teacher observations and assist elementary principal with formal teacher evaluations.
Manage elementary admissions testing calendar and scheduling.
Assist elementary principal with elementary family interviews.
Plan, coordinate and keep track of professional learning committee meetings for continued staff development.
Provide continued professional development for classroom teachers with approval from elementary principal.
Assist with student behavior management in elementary school.
Communicate academic needs of students with parents and teachers as needed
Assist Elementary Principal with day-to-day operations.
Assist Elementary staff with planning and execution of elementary events
Assist with morning and afternoon carpool duties.

PERSONAL BELIEF & BEHAVIOR

Must be a born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures, and express agreement with the doctrinal viewpoints and Christian lifestyle requirements of the school.
Must be able to serve as a positive Christian role model to others in the CCS school context.
Must be able to accept and support the school’s doctrinal statement.
Must have an understanding of and commitment to CCS’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the teacher to integrate Scripture into subjects taught, thus imparting to the students a biblical worldview position.
Must faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.
Must affirm that he/she believes that working and ministering in this Christian school as a teacher would be pleasing to God, would be consistent with his/her purpose in life, and would be a good stewardship of his/her time, talent, and professional abilities.
Must enjoy working with young people.

PROFESSIONAL

Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree. Graduate degrees desirable.
Must possess a valid teaching certificate (ACSI or State of Texas).
Must have experience and knowledge of curriculum K-5th
Experience in a leadership role is desirable.
Must be organized and be an effective communicator.
Experience managing an SIS (student information system), curriculum mapping software, and educational software.
All new faculty to CCS must apply for and receive temporary ACSI certification within (6) months of commencing teaching before being eligible to be considered for a new contract.
All new faculty must complete the ACSI Philosophy of Christian Education course or its approved equivalent prior to starting the second year of employment.
All continuing CCS faculty must maintain current ACSI certification to be eligible to be considered for a new contract.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

In addition to the skills directly related to this job, the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator/Academic Advisor is expected to also have the capability to perform the duties and functions of a teacher as described below.

The expectations for teacher performance are defined as specific Performance Standards. The teacher is then evaluated on his/her effectiveness in meeting or exceeding each standard. Performance Standards refer to the major duties performed by a teacher. Performance Indicators provide examples of observable, tangible behaviors that will occur if a standard is being successfully met. The standards are listed below:

The teacher demonstrates current knowledge of subject matter, maintains appropriate professional credentials, participates in professional growth opportunities, demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, and contributes to the profession.

The teacher serves as a Christian role model and integrates the school’s perspective of biblical values in classroom instruction and behavior.

Performance Standard 3: Effective Planning/Correct Use of Systems and Tools

The teacher uses appropriate tools to plan and document work; the teacher uses data to plan appropriate curricula, implement instructional strategies, and use resources to promote learning for all students. The work of the teacher results in acceptable, measurable student progress.

Performance Standard 4: Instructional Delivery/Teaching Effectiveness

The teacher effectively communicates and teaches students by using appropriate instructional strategies and considering a variety of learning styles when designing delivery.

Performance Standard 5: Learning Environment

The teacher provides a well-managed, positive, and orderly classroom environment that promotes the development of academic achievement and Christian character. The teacher deals with disciplinary matters in a positive and effective manner.

Performance Standard 6: Communication/Relationship with Parents and Students

The teacher communicates effectively with students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community.

Performance Standard 7: Dependability/Punctuality/Professionalism

The teacher demonstrates good personal standards and is characterized by solid professionalism in their actions, attitudes, communication, and demeanor.
