St. Jerome Emiliani Foster Care Program provides residential services to immigrant and refugee youth through the care of foster parents, supported by program staff. In addition to residential services, youth are provided medical and mental health care, educational services, recreation opportunities, among others. Youth are provided guidance toward self-sufficiency so that they may be successful post discharge from the program.

Join the St. Jerome Foster Care Program as the Foster Care Outreach Specialist. Foster Care Outreach Specialist is responsible for increasing the capacity of the foster care program through community outreach associated with recruitment of foster families, providing program orientation to those interested in providing foster care to immigrant and refugee youth, obtaining documentation that will be utilized by peers to determine family fitness for providing foster care, and compliance with Health and Human Services Minimum Standards for Child-Placing Agencies. Successful candidate is also tasked with ensuring appropriate communication with potential foster parents, community members, colleagues, and external stakeholders, and timely and accurate documentation, as well as ensuring its timely filing.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in social work or other human service field of study preferred

One (1) year One year of documented of experience in a child welfare and/or marketing

Valid Texas Driver’s License

You have knowledge of Social Work Principles and Ethics

You have knowledge in child development, grief and loss issues, attachment and bonding, family dynamics, adoption, and foster care issues.

You have the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders and maintain professional courteous demeanor.

You have the ability to maintain accurate personnel files, handle and maintain confidential information.

You have the ability to type accurately and to proofread effectively.

You demonstrate organizational and planning skills.

You demonstrate success in dealing with a variety of people, staff, clients, and volunteers.

You have strong verbal and written communication skills, command of English language.

You have the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects at once.

What you Deliver

You develop a recruitment plan that identifies and analyzes the target market according to program needs, and develops strategies to provide program information and engage in recruitment discussion to the target audience and beyond.

You meet agency growth and service needs toward the licensure of new homes, and provides consistent reports on marketing and recruitment implementation and follow through.

You locate, schedules and attends recruitment events that align with the identified recruitment plan and strategies.

You work individually and in collaboration with colleagues and community members to develop and implement an ongoing and relevant recruitment campaign to attract potential and viable foster families.

You engage in appropriate and timely communication with all individuals and families with inquiries surrounding foster care provision.

You consistently engage in community outreach to build relationships through which the candidate may regularly attend community meetings, participate in media events in collaboration with the agency’s Marketing department, and other community events.

You perform other duties as assigned.
