Join our team as a Housing Specialist in the Permanent Housing Program! Housing Specialist provides housing support services to clients who have experienced long-term homelessness and have a disabling condition. The Housing Specialist is responsible for increasing client's housing stability and sustainability. Responsibilities include explaining, and applying HUD and Catholic Charities policies, procedures, and regulations in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations; Acting as a liaison while working with interested or participating Landlords, Rental agencies, Community organizations, and Service providers; Annual recertification of clients’ leases; and negotiating and preparing lease contracts between Catholic Charities and Landlords, and other Housing agencies. Other duties responsibilities include completing HQS Inspections; Mediating landlord/clients’ issues; and learning HUD guidelines, rules, and regulations; Providing information on needed resources to the Team.
The Expertise We're Looking For
You have an Associate Degree; or
You have two (2) years of experience in lieu of education
You have one (1) year of experience in a social service setting or similar setting
You have a Valid Texas Driver’s License

You are knowledgeable of general social work practice, values, and ethics.
You are knowledgeable of: HUD regulations, guidelines, and procedures regarding PSH programs
You the ability to work with diverse populations in collaborative situations.
You have strong communication and organizational skills.
You are good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
You are proficient within Microsoft Office and Outlook
You are proactive and solutions-focused approach to case management.
What you Deliver
You will communicates with Clients, Landlords, and Housing agencies to explain the responsibilities of the rental assistance programs; Help provide clients and their families with Housing units; Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Communicates Case managers, Supervisor and Compliance status of leases or renewals or any issues.; Prepares and reviews lease documents between participants and landlords to ensure participants are aware of and understand the provisions of the lease. Prepares Lease contracts for review and signatures from Landlords and Housing agencies and Catholic Charities; Ensure rental Property Owners understand the rights and responsibilities of program participation. Prepares recertification and verification documents
You will upload all files into HMIS data base
You will conduct community outreach; Develops and maintains a professional working relationship with Landlords to promote permanent housing opportunities; advocates and mediates with Landlords on behalf of clients.
You will attend and participates in weekly team meetings and individual supervision meetings; Attend PSH housing meetings as required.
You will perform other duties as assigned by Permanent Supportive Housing Supervisor.You
