JOB DESCRIPTION

The Team Development Coordinator will primarily serve as the staff liaison for the Usher and Prayer Partner ministries by providing leadership, member care, and coordinating volunteer recruitment, training/development, and retention for volunteers and leaders. The Team Development Coordinator will also ensure ongoing STM leadership training for volunteers and leaders.

This position reports directly to the Director of Volunteer Teams (STM).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

  • Serve as staff liaison for Usher and Prayer Partner volunteers and leaders
  • Compassionately support volunteers during times of grief, illness, or other life challenges. Attend memorial services and extend encouraging phone calls and prayer as appropriate
  • Assist in building the current Usher and Prayer Partner teams by evaluating existing programs/practices and developing intentional strategies to increase participation and decrease attrition
  • Work with the Director of Volunteer Teams (STM) and volunteer leaders of Ushers and Prayer Partners to:
  • Assess the overall health of leaders and teams
  • Assess structure and processes for improvements
  • Identify new volunteer leaders
  • Collect and assess data on:
  • Recruitment
  • Attrition
  • Weekly Attendance
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve:
  • Overall volunteer service experience
  • Health of teams
  • Effectiveness of team leaders

 

 

  • Assist with the orientation and training process for church-wide Ushers and Prayer Partners (English, Spanish, and NXTGEN Services)
  • Encourage teamwork and mutual support by building relationships with volunteer leaders and team members of respective ministries
  • Assist with the implementation of a practical, biblically-based leadership development program for STM that produces volunteer leaders at all levels who are equipped with the hearts, skills, and tools for effective, impactful ministry
  • Assist with the development of training content, schedules, and ongoing leadership investments for all STM leaders
  • Participate in the recruitment and screening of potential volunteers
  • Provide ongoing training for Ushers and Prayer Partners
  • Manage system for tracking all STM volunteer attendance/participation through Planning Center
  • Promote relationship building, leadership development, teamwork, and communication within ministry areas
  • Work efficiently and effectively with Lakewood leadership and staff to carry out the vision of the church

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • College Degree preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience
