With over 12,000 volunteers in its database, and about 1,000 new volunteers on-boarding each year, Lakewood Church’s volunteer screening team supports one of the most essential functions in the Church. That is – ensuring we are placing volunteers in the right roles at Lakewood Church. Lakewood’s Volunteer Screening Department is also responsible for Lakewood’s child safety program.
In support of these goals, This position assists with the volunteer screening process for all prospective volunteers, and deals with sensitive, personal, and confidential information.
This position reports to the Volunteer Onboarding Experience Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Process, verify and enter new volunteer applications submitted daily
- Process, verify and enter all new background checks submitted for potential volunteers and contractors into our records management system
- Schedule and conduct potential volunteer connection meetings
- Process and rescreen background checks
- Contact volunteer references
- Email follow–up child safety, volunteer references, and re-screening emails and or calls
- Email child safety training to potential volunteers that are in child serving ministries
- Update active and inactive volunteers in our records management system
- Interview, train, and coordinate any office volunteers
- Effectively communicate with ministry staff and leaders
- Request and assist with all office volunteer’s computer and parking access
- Recruit (making phone calls) volunteers for special events
- Process and submit badge orders for volunteers
- Check and respond to volunteer, ministry leaders and staff emails
- Other duties as assigned

- Regular attendance at Church services and classes
- Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
- Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church

- Experience in leading training sessions for small to medium sized groups
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate effective time management skills
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (which include Microsoft Dynamics-CRM and Planning Center Online preferred)
- Must have an aptitude for working with and understanding multiple computer software systems
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Some college preferred
- Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in data entry processing, customer service and letter writing
- Previous experience working with processing background checks would be preferred
