The Doctor of Ministry at Bethel University will start offering a three-year program this 2023-2024 academic year calendar. The university reportedly reduced its credits from 48 to 36 and reduced the overall program costs.

Credit Reduction of Program

Rearranging the units in the concentration courses is the root cause of the drop in credit hours. Currently, there are two courses per concentration: a "content course" and a "project course."

According to a news article published by Bethel University, future students only need to take one concentrated course covering all the material and including the associated final project.

The Doctor of Ministry Program Director, John Dunne, is thrilled by these developments. Dunne stated that they made this move to attract more students to the program due to the reduced credit requirements and overall prices.

Per the report, the change also makes it more competitive since the program's credit requirements were previously on the high end for ATS-accredited D.Min. programs.

According to Dunne, the decision has been met with widespread support, and there has been an increase in inquiries from potential students ever since it was announced.

Doctor of Ministry

To become a leader wholly devoted to reforming themselves and their societies, students in Bethel Seminary's Doctor of Ministry program will be pushed both academically and practically.

They will graduate from Bethel's Doctor of Ministry program equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience to lead their church and community in ways that have the potential to change people's lives for the better.

University's Christian Formation

At Bethel, they believe that God is actively forming students into the image of Jesus Christ for the world's benefit and that their job is to join God in this endeavor.

As stated on its website, this occurs as people learn to set their life up so that the Holy Spirit might work in them. This also develops as they invest in relationships with adults encouraging and pushing them to grow as Christ-followers.

Spiritual development occurs most effectively in close quarters.

At Bethel, students regularly gather in groups of four to eight to develop their faith.

Each group has its style, but all hold the same core beliefs about sharing, prayer, and seeing Jesus as an example.

At Bethel's Christ-guided community, students will encounter transformation and leadership in their careers.
