Mount Olivet Lutheran Church will host the annual "Stories of Hope" on Thursday, May 11, organized by Mental Health Connect at 8 a.m. on Knox Avenue in South Minneapolis.

Mental Health Connect will provide resources to the participants and let them know they are not alone in their journey.

Annual Stories of Hope

Mental Health Connect invites the community to join them at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, where they will organize their fifth annual Stories of Hope event.

According to Eventbrite, MHC will provide resources to people who think their path forward is unclear. These tools are the next steps to healing and a map to the right path. Aside from that, they will also reassure the audience that they are not alone and that their feelings will be considered.

MHC works with 37 religious organizations to disseminate anti-stigma messages to an estimated 80,000 people. MHC offers a navigation line, a toll-free, anonymous hotline that connects callers to over a hundred reliable community resources.

The funding from Stories of Hope will be used to buy essential supplies for promoting community mental health.

Per the post, the ticket price ranges from $25 to $150 per person.

Mental Health Connect

With the support of a single donation and the instruction to use the funds to address local mental health needs, the Mental Health Connect Collaboration (MHC) was born.

Five local churches came together in 2016 to form a collaborative to help those in their communities who suffer from mental illness.

According to the website, MHC has expanded throughout the past five years to include more than 30 congregations, several local outreach hubs, and 40 community partners for referrals.

An interfaith and community partnership employs a navigation approach to bring together various sources of help for their clients and educate them on how to utilize them best.
