The Association of Anglican Musicians (AAM) in Norwalk has announced a call for host churches and mentors for the Gerre Hancock internship for 2023-2024.

According to the press release posted by the Episcopal News Service, the AAM is seeking hosts who would welcome all applications regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, and sexuality in line with the Baptismal Covenant.

The website said the deadline for host application is on Oct. 15.

Application Details for Host Institutions, Mentors for Gerre Hancock internship

The report said the host institutions were created to provide full-time mentoring opportunities to the youth who wish to dabble in music and are members of the Episcopal community.

The move is in line with mentoring institutions' guidelines, policies, and procedures. 

To qualify as a host, the following are the mentoring institution eligibility requirements:

  • A member of the Episcopal church.
  • Has experience in teaching music and has broad and dynamic knowledge of music.
  • Dedicated to mentoring an intern.
  • Responsible for all the details about the intern.
  • Responsible for the salary and benefits of the intern.
  • Monitors the employment status of the intern.
  • Participates in the exit interview at the conclusion of the internship alongside AAM designees.

Moreover, the qualified applicant will reportedly experience the following grants by the AAM for 10 months:

  • $17,000 grant will be for the intern's salary and will be paid monthly at $1,700.
  • $5,000 for the other expenses of the intern, including housing expenses and health insurance.
  • Maximum reimbursement of $2,000 for the intern's expenses during the interview for the final internship upon submitting original receipts.
  • Registration fee to attend the annual Association of Anglican Musicians conference.
  • Accommodation in a hotel during the annual summer conference for five nights.
  • Up to $300 additional support for transportation to the annual summer conference.

The Gerre Hancock Internship was reportedly funded by the AAM Endowment Fund, which grants more than $40,000 annually.
