The Archdiocese of Newark has recently announced the new assignments of clergy members in April.
Cardinal Joseph Tobin reportedly approved these new appointments of priests within the faith community. He is the high-ranking leader of the Archdiocese of Newark.
Pastorate Assignments
According to Jersey Catholic, eight clergy members have been granted an extension of their pastorate. They would reportedly continue serving the Catholic Christians in their current parishes.
Rev. Stephen A. Carey will be in his second term leading the Saint Mary Parish in Dumont, New Jersey. He will then reportedly conclude his tenure at the said parish on June 30, 2027.
Cardinal Tobin has also granted an extended pastorate to Rev. Joseph D. Girone. He remains to be the pastor of Saint Rocco/Saint Brigid in Union City until June 30, 2024.
Rev. Ivan Sciberras would still serve the parishioners of Saint Peter Parish in Belleville. He will end his term on June 30, 2023.
Moreover, the pastorate of Rev. Felix Marciniak has also been extended. He will serve the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Wallington until June 30, 2024.
The Saint Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Saddle River will still have the same pastor. Rev. Monsignor Frank Del Prete will be the pastor of the church until June 30, 2023.
Rev. Michael Sean Patrick Trainor remains to be the head of Immaculate Conception Parish. It marked his second term in the Hackensack-based congregation.
Also, Rev. Peter Palmisano received a pastorate extension at the Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish. Very Rev. Michael Kreder continues his pastorate duties at Saint Mary’s Parish in Rutherford.
In addition, the Archdiocese of Newark also appointed two new pastors. The Saint Valentine Parish welcomes Rev. Nnaemeka Onyemaobi as its new head.
Meanwhile, Rev. Kajetan Klein has been chosen to be the new pastor of Corpus Christi Parish. The two new appointees will serve their respective parishes until June 30, 2028.
Other Clergy Appointments
As per the news outlet, the Archdiocese also announced the new appointments in other clergy positions.
The cardinal appointed the Very Rev. Jose Erlito Ebron to be a temporary administrator. He serves the Saint Joseph Parish in West Orange while concurrently leading the Saint Raphael Parish.
Additionally, Rev. Gabriel Curtis will be the new parochial vicar of Saint Leo Parish. His appointment will reportedly take effect starting on Monday, May 16, 2022.
Meanwhile, the Hackensack University Medical Center will install a new chaplain. Rev. Richard Pfannenstiel will serve the university medical center effective July 1, 2022.
The Archdiocese also assigned Rev. Paul Houlis to a residency at Holy Cross Parish. He will be in residence while fulfilling his duties as chaplain at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum.
