The General Theological Seminary (GTS) has invited Christian leaders to a spiritual retreat. The institution is the first seminary established by The Episcopal Church.

The GTS said that faith leaders from any religious denomination may participate in the event.

Pastors, Priests, Guides Retreat

According to a press release, the retreat will kick off on Monday, May 23, at noon. It will then reportedly conclude on Wednesday, May 25, at noon.

The multi-day event will take place at the seminary located at 440 West 21 Street in New York City.

GTS noted that the retreat is for those who "have not given up on the broken but beautiful Church."

In this conflicting time, the event would reportedly help them look for a vision for ministry.

The seminary reiterated that the retreat would also aid them in adopting certain practices. Such practices seek to help Christian leaders keep their tired souls and bodies going.

GTS shared that the event also strives to unite faith leaders with others on their spiritual journey.

It would also teach them practical instruments for putting Jesus' words into practice. The seminary said that these tools could be used for personal and communal application.

Moreover, the Episcopal institution revealed that the event is ecumenical and contemplative.

It said that faith leaders may experience a practice-based and experimental spiritual event.

Aside from that, the Episcopal seminary further stated that the retreat would be filled with hope.

Guides for the Retreat

In a press release, the GTS has revealed that it invited spiritual guides for the said retreat.

The retreat will feature the Rev. Canon Dr. Stephanie Spellers. She is the canon for evangelism and reconciliation to The Episcopal Church's presiding bishop.

She is regarded as one of the major contemporary thinkers on ministry and mission. Canon Spellers also serves as one of the church's advisers of the mission.

Apart from that, she is also the author of The Church Cracked Open. The book will reportedly serve as a guide and foundational resource for the event.

Furthermore, the retreat will also present Pastor Aaron Niequist. He is an alumnus of GTS and currently works as a liturgist and writer.

The Episcopal seminary has also invited Pastor Drew Jackson of Hope East Village.

In addition, writer Shauna Niequist will also be a spiritual guide for the retreat. She is the author of several best-selling books.

Also joining the roster of retreat guides is the Rev. Christine Lee, an alumna of GTS. She is also reportedly serving as the priest-in-charge of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
