The Episcopal Church is looking for virtual delegates at the United Nations CSW66 conference.
Thus, it has opened the applications for the CSW66 or the 66th Commission on the Status of Women.
As reported, the church revealed that the UN conference will take place on March 14-25, 2021.
Applications For CSW66 Conference Virtual Delegation
According to its website, the church provides English and Spanish application forms.
Episcopalians must reportedly submit their application forms on or before Friday, Jan. 28.
The presiding bishop's virtual delegation will come from each Episcopal Church province.
The faith community will also choose one delegate from Europe's Convocation of Episcopal Churches.
The Episcopal Church reiterated that individuals of any gender might apply as virtual delegates.
Aside from that, applicants must be 19 years old and above. They must also have the willingness to take part in the CSW66 conference.
The aspiring delegates must also be capable of talking about the conference's theme.
Moreover, applicants must hold a significant position at the parish, diocesan, or provincial level.
The Episcopal Church also highly encouraged young adults to apply for the UN session.
The priority theme for this year's conference will promote gender equality.
It will also focus on empowering women and girls regarding environmental programs and policies.
Thus, the church urged people from indigenous groups to participate in the event. It also called on communities that are impacted by gender and climate change issues to join.
Furthermore, it encouraged faith leaders who have previous experience with the theme to apply.
Meanwhile, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will proclaim the delegation nominees by mid-February.
Roles of CSW66 Virtual Delegates
As per its website, the church enumerated the responsibilities of chosen virtual delegates.
The worship house requires delegates to dedicate their time to preparatory conference calls.
Virtual delegates must be able to participate in the two-week CSW66 conference. They will reportedly attend the meeting for an average of eight hours a day.
The church will also give them a chance to represent Bishop Curry in the CSW66 related events.
Participants must also use their platforms such as blogs and social media to give updates. They will reportedly utilize these networking sites to post about their involvement.
Apart from the pre-conference calls, they will also take part in evaluations and reports.
After the CSW66 conference, delegates will also be requested to participate in follow-up initiatives.
Meanwhile, Lynnaia Main expressed her sentiments about the applications. She is the representative of The Episcopal Church to the UN.
The representative said that they look forward to inviting faith leaders, elders, and newcomers.
