Celebrating Easter: Fun weekend activities for Christian kids in Philadelphia and suburbs

Easter Sunday or Easter Weekend is when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christian families celebrate by going to the Mass or somewhere to do fun Easter activities. 

Thanks to sunny skies and mild temperatures, spring has come in time for the Easter and Passover celebrations. With the arrival of warmer weather and the promise of a new season, everyone is looking forward to the weekend.

Philadelphia has a lot of fun activities to offer. You better check out these 10 fun weekend activities for Christian kids in and around Philly:

1. Experience Easter Bunny Trains at Strasburg Rail Road

As spring approaches, Philadelphian families can welcome the new season and experience the Easter Bunny Trains at Strasburg Rail Road. Your entire family will enjoy this outing. This year, you can ride the Easter Bunny Train at Strasburg Rail Road from April 7 to April 9, continuing a family tradition that dates back generations.

2. Meet the Easter Bunny in Bunnyland

Take a hayride out to Linvilla Orchards this weekend and visit Bunnyland to have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny. According to NBC Philadelphia, take a 20-minute ride through the woods, delicious food, and stories before shooting a classic snapshot with the Easter Bunny. Linvilla's farm market bakery in Media, Delaware County, also features Easter-themed activities like face painting, pony rides, and specialty baked goods.

3. Go to Shady Brook Farm for springtime fun

Wagons will transport children to the Hunting Grounds, where they can participate in an Easter Egg Scramble to collect one of six candy-filled eggs. At Easter Eggstravaganza, they can return to the hayride at Easter Eggstravaganza and head to the Festival Field for more fun, games, food, and drinks. They can also talk to the Easter Bunny, take some adorable pictures, and have a blast for a whole day. 

4. Be creative at Art Kids Studio

Art Kids Studio is a weekly event in the Philadelphia Museum of Art's South Vaulted Walkway, where families may spend quality time making art together. According to Mommy Poppins, each month has a new set of art activities and themes, and all materials are provided. 

5. Join the Easter egg hunt at Ardmore Business Association

Attend the Ardmore Easter Egg Hunt. Start at Schauffele Plaza to get a map, then go all over Ardmore looking for Easter eggs and eating candy as you go. Schauffele Plaza is the starting and finishing point of this free event.

6. Attend the Penguin Party at Adventure Aquarium

Get your penguin party on at the Adventure Aquarium. This month, Camden Aquarium visitors can participate in events honoring penguins. Also, visitors can meet the aquarium's newest Little Blue penguin baby and cast their choice for a name.

7. Attend the Sesame Place Passover Event

Get together in the Sesame Studio for a special storytime about Passover with one of your Sesame Street friends. Then, take advantage of the opportunity to hug a furry friend from Sesame Street a hug and take a photo with them afterward!

8. Hop in Brunch Cruise of Spirit of Philadelphia

Make some very unforgettable experiences this Easter! Join them for a fun-filled sail on the Delaware River this Easter in historic Philadelphia. In addition to a delectable brunch, passengers on the Spirit of Philadelphia will delight in the lovely spring weather, incredible picture opportunities, an exciting visit from the Easter Bunny, and more.

9. Springfest at Bartram's Garden

At the Garden's cost-free, yearly celebration of spring, all visitors are welcome to attend. Per the website, this year's event will be sponsored in collaboration with The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and Clean Water Action. The theme will be "The Beauty of Urban Ecology." Among the many activities available during this event is a Spring Tree tour in the Garden and Meditation in the Garden with Luna.

10. Spring Break at the Museum of the American Revolution

Visit the Museum of the American Revolution during Spring Break and learn about the contributions Philadelphians made to the springtime supply drives for the Continental Army.
