Dayspring United Methodist Church will hold its annual animal blessing on Sunday, Oct. 16, at noon. The church welcomes all pets.
8th Annual Blessing of Animals
Dayspring United Methodist Church invited all pet owners to church on Sunday, Oct. 16. It will be the 8th annual Blessings of Animals.
The church provided information about the event through its website. It requested pet owners to bring dogs on a leash or a carrier.
Dayspring United Methodist Church also encouraged kids to bring their favorite stuffed animals for a blessing at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services. As shared on the website, the Dayspring United Methodist Church conducts the Blessing of Animals to remember St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures.
His Feast Day is celebrated every fourth of October. The church shared that Francis loved the larks flying about his hilltop town. He wrote a Canticle of Creatures, an ode to God’s living things.
The church invited all to bring their animal companions to Dayspring UMC for this special blessing.

Donations for UMOM
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In line with this, Dayspring UMC encouraged all to donate to UMOM. The church requested all to turn in their donations at the church on Oct. 9 and Oct.16.
Fourth Sunday Food Drive
Dayspring UMC holds a food drive every fourth Sunday of each month. The food drive always needs canned meat and meals, peanut butter, canned fruit, and vegetables.
It also needs cereal, dry rice and beans, dry milk, and volunteers. The donations help feed people in need in Tempe through the Tempe Community Action Agency.
