Church’s Mission

The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church declared that its mission is to "love God with all their heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves," suggesting that the church should establish good relationships with individuals on a horizontal level.

As stated in Luke 4:18: "Healing the ill, aiding the blind to get sight, the lame to walk, the leper to be cleansed, the deaf to hear, the dead to be raised, and the poor to have the Good News delivered to them," we also participate in the mission of His Son Jesus Christ, according to the church.

According to the church, members must worship God, obey the gospel's requirements, share the account of God's gracious acts in creating and redeeming the world, invite people to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and act as conduits for God's releasing and reconciling love in order to achieve this goal.

The church said the denomination has devoted a large portion of its attention and resources to outreach abroad in addition to emphasizing ministry and social change here in the United States.

The AME Zion Church said that Australia is the only continent without any active member churches.

The denomination has established various schools and clinics in Ghana and Nigeria, specifically in West Africa, the church said.

The church said although some of its primary buildings in Liberia were damaged by civil conflict, the church still retains facilities there.

Carrying Mission with Purpose

The church said it carries out this purpose by giving thanks to God, obeying the gospel's requirements, sharing how God's merciful acts created and redeemed the world, encouraging people to follow Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and acting as agents of God's releasing and reconciling mercy.

There are currently about 1.4 million members of the AME Zion Church, according to the church.

Church’s Pastor

On Easter Sunday, April 22, 1984, Reverend Doctor Staccato Keithan Powell II was born, according to the church

In November 2000, at Mount Hebron A.M.E. Zion church in Hallsboro, North Carolina, Staccato delivered his first sermon before being ordained as Reverend Powell in January 2004, it added. In the year 2002, he would keep building his legend.

Staccato Powell became one of the first African-Americans at the Washington Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church to get the coveted Eagle Scout Badge from the Boy Scouts of America in Saint Louis, Missouri, this year.

Thousands of other African-American youngsters have shown that this accolade serves as an inspiration, the church said.
