Fisher African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church in Atlanta, Georgia has featured its first model tower garden.

On a Facebook post on Monday, Aug. 8, the church claimed hydroponic gardening as the future and that it is perfect for urban communities.

According to the church’s post, the flowers, herbs, and vegetables were selected for the model tower garden.

The church said through execution by Trustee board Chairman Brown and Reverend Doctor Staccato Powell II, Fisher AME Zion Church now owns its first hydrophobic plant tower.

The church said it is all about providing the neighborhood with fresh choices.

In the same post, the church said that as part of the health program and ministry, they will provide the neighborhood with a variety of fresh vegetable and herb selections while battling diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and other conditions that are rife in underserved neighborhoods.

Church’s Mission, Vision

According to the Fisher AME Zion Church’s website, it aims to deepen our love for God and to serve humanity by "loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves," which implies that the church should have a good relationship with humanity on a horizontal level.

The church said that believers also participate in the mission of His Son, Jesus Christ, as stated in Luke 4:18, "Healing the sick, helping the blind to get sight, the lame to walk, the leper to be cleansed, the deaf to hear, the dead to be raised, and the poor to have the Good News delivered to them.”

Members of the church are to worship God, submit to the demands of the Gospel, share the account of God's gracious works in creating and redeeming the world, invite people to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and act as instruments of God's releasing and reconciling love, according to the church.

Church’s Denomination

The denomination has devoted a large portion of its attention and resources to outreach abroad in addition to emphasizing ministry and social change here in the United States, according to the church.

Fisher AME Zion Church said  Australia is the only continent where the AME Zion Church does not currently have member churches.

It added that the denomination has established various schools and clinics in Ghana and Nigeria, specifically in West Africa.

Although some of its primary buildings in Liberia were damaged by civil conflict, the church still retains facilities there, the church stated.

Fisher AME Zion Church also hosted a women's online Bible study and fellowship.

The church stated that it conducts the Bible study hour once a month, on the fourth Saturday, in a Facebook post on Saturday, July 23.

The facilitator will be Lady Joysaphine Waitman Powell, who is finishing her theological studies at Grand Canyon University, according to the church's post.
