Lincoln Heights Christian Church hosted a "Serve Day" for the needy on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The church’s Facebook page noted that they prepared and gave sandwiches to the community's people. They stated that they also shared the good news of Jesus.
Serving Together
The church’s website emphasized that God called the Lincoln Heights Christian Church to live their lives more than just for themselves. They aim to make meaningful connections with their “Compassion Partners.”
According to them, they think that they could fulfill their goal by sending church members to help their partners. They stressed that its Life Groups are designed to help each individual to be prepared when they are sent for a mission.
In addition, the website noted that their groups are dedicated to serving with their partner organizations or missionaries.
Local Compassion Partners
Moreover, they highlighted that Pheonix Rescue Mission is one of their local “compassion partners.” The same website explained that they are a Christian-based agency offering hope, healing, and new life for homeless adults and children.
More importantly, the website supports men, women, and kids dealing with addiction and trauma. They added that they pursue to change lives to transform the city by offering Christ-centered life-changing solutions.
Life Groups
In another section, Lincoln Heights Christian Church offers an opportunity for members who want to have deeper relationships at the church. They said their next step is to be part of a Life Group.
As further mentioned, Life Groups are meetings of five to fifteen individuals who gather in homes or at church to grow spiritually and establish genuine relationships. Life group members would thrive in growth in Christ as they gather around God’s word with others.
Moreover, people who belong to Life Groups feel loved, challenged, and empowered, as added on the website. They stated that they welcome everyone to join the groups regardless of where they are in their journey.
Homelessness in Valley
The Pheonix Rescue Mission revealed that there are over nine thousand men, women, and kids suffering from various stages of homelessness in the Valley every day. They pointed out that some of them are highly obvious.
According to the website, some people live in tent cities, on roadsides, or in public parks. They stated that some hide in the fields or cars or live in a shelter.
In addition, the website stressed that Maricopa County attained a grim milestone for the first time.
They stated that over half of the area’s homeless population was left unsheltered, adding that the gap between sheltered and unsheltered continuously increases.
The website mentioned that the experiences of those surpassing homelessness are as diverse as the individuals themselves.
More importantly, they emphasized that Maricopa County’s official Point-In-Time count as of January 2022 pointed out that 56% are unsheltered. They explained that they live on the streets, in their cars, and in other places unsuitable for humans.
Besides, they posted that 44% live in shelters in some kind of emergency housing or program.
