Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (UMC) hosted its Vacation Bible School (VBS), a week of activities for kids last July 11, Monday, to July 15, Friday. The event included a parade of food trucks in the church’s neighborhood.

Event's Theme

As announced on the church’s events page, the event's theme was "Food Truck on a Roll with God!" Kids explored the Bible. Furthermore, they listened to stories from the Old and New Testaments.

VBS also helped kids discover the many ways that the Lord loves, provides, and treasures each person.

Paradise Valley UMC motivated the kids to become giving, loving, and caring persons through the event.

Food Truck Party on a Roll with God was open for kids aged three and potty-trained up to kids who have finished the fifth grade. Participants in the VBS were grouped by age.

Additionally, scholarships were available for the event.

Paradise Valley UMC also welcomed Youth Volunteers for the event. Moreover, the church allowed buddy requests for the VBS Food Truck Party on a Roll with God. The church reminded those who want to request that campers must be the same age or grade.

To get approval, both or all campers must list one another upon their buddy requests. The church ensured they would try their best to honor the buddy requests.

Additionally, the church provided more options for attending the VBS this year.

Participants were able to choose to attend morning sessions only, afternoon sessions only, or all–day sessions. The morning option happened from 9 a.m. until noon. Those who chose the afternoon session attended from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., while all-day sessions happened from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Paradise Valley UMC was also delighted to offer an early drop-off option at 8 a.m.

VBS morning sessions focused on exploring Bible lessons. Different stations were organized for this purpose, which included music, mission, science, games, art, drama, and snacks.

For the afternoon sessions, kids chose which camp they wanted to join. The camps offered were play camp, visual arts camp, Drama and Dance, Video Production, and Lego STEAM camp.

With the COVID-19 existence in mind, Paradise Valley UMC hand-implemented protocols for all participating in the VBS. The church ensured everyone was following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) recommendations and was working with ImagineThat!

Paradise Valley UMC provided a list of safety protocols for the camp. The church also reminded all that it might update protocols before the camp dates.
