Christ Church will conduct its annual sports activities, the 5K Run, and Walk and Kid's Fun Run, on Aug. 13, Sunday. The events will benefit the ministries in Honduras.
6th Annual 5K Run, Walk and Kid's Fun Run
Christ Church requests its congregation to lend their hands in helping serve people in Honduras. According to its website, it will hold its annual 5K Run and Walk and Kid's Fun Run to benefit ministries in Honduras.
Together with partners, the church holds feeding and food distribution programs, medical clinics, kids' Bible study, and offers student scholarships to some communities in Honduras.
The church requires a fee for joining the event. $25 covers the entrance fee and t-shirt. At the same time, joiners can pay $75, including participation in the race, t-shirt, and annual student sponsorship.
Meanwhile, the event for the kids is free and will start once all the runners/walkers finish the race. Christ Church asks everyone interested to sign-up online for the Annual 5K run and Walk & Kid's Fun Run.
The church announced that the race would push through rain or shine unless dangerous conditions were present. Moreover, entry fees are non-refundable.
Another thing happening at Christ Church is the Backpack Attack drive. It announced it is the last week for accepting donations through its Facebook page. The church reminded its congregation to bring donations to any worship service this weekend.
The church invited all to the Fairview Heights Campus on Aug. 2 at 9 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help pack the school supplies and bring them to the Christian Activity Center.

According to its Facebook page, Christ Church's ultimate mission is to create relationships of people with Jesus Christ. Moreover, for Christ Church, Biblical truth is Christian love.
This community of believers has campuses in Fairview Heights, Collinsville/Maryville, Millstadt, and Belleville. As stated on its website, Christ Church does not belong to any denomination. It is an independent congregation.
It works on its mission by reaching out, welcoming, and making disciples through worship and service. It is a congregation that started with 200 individuals in 1997.
The church grew to what it is today with over 2,000 members. Reverend Shane Bishop serves as the Senior Pastor of Christ Church.
It partners with other ministries to reach more people in its community and around the world. Through its partnerships, the church touches more lives and becomes the hands and feet of Christ in as many ways as possible.
As shared on the same website, the ministries it supports overseas include Feed My Sheep Ministry, Right Turn Ministries, Christ Philippines Mission, Bibles for Honduras, and Hines Ugandan Ministries (HUM).
Christ Church also maintains a pantry at its Fairview Heights Campus. It welcomes donations all year to stock its food pantry. The pantry needs canned meats, hamburger helper and boxed stuffing, soups, and various canned vegetables.
Included in its list of needs are breakfast items, paper products, and hygiene products.
