Sun Valley Church will hold a fellowship meeting for Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) on Wednesday, March 1, at Tempe Campus.
The church’s website noted that the program would be an opportunity for mothers with kids from birth through kindergarten. They wanted to cultivate every mom by dealing with their particular needs to glorify Jesus.
Besides, they mentioned that the MOPS group offers empowerment, assistance, teaching, and friendship. They added that they held their activities in a relaxing environment where they could care, share, and have fun.
Parenting Course
In another section, the church highlighted that they offer Parenting Course. They believe children are unique, and their struggles are usually equally impressive, as the website explains.
They mentioned that sometimes parents could feel that they are doing great, and after a minute, they would feel like a failure.
The church mentioned that this course would address key strategies all parents can use. They stressed that their most significant impact might not be their actions but on who they raise.
Moreover, the church announced that this is a six-week course to help parents learn from others who have the same situation and struggles but have already overcome them.
Struggles of Parenting
The Empowering Parents website revealed that the difficult part of becoming a parent is that it would always involve some discomfort, disappointment, and pain.
Janet Lehman, a mother and therapist for 30 years, explained on the website that the parents’ role of simply loving and securing their child from pain and discomfort changes to accepting that their child or teenager would need to experience the natural outcome of their actions.
According to her, allowing one’s child to struggle could be helpful because transformation happens out of challenges and in moments of accepting accountability for their actions.
Lehman narrated that the most challenging part of parenting is watching her child struggle without stepping in to fix things for him.
As further noted, parents deal with many struggles, and as they discover, there are many obstacles they never expected before having kids.
Parenting Child
The same website revealed the five most difficult challenges that parents face. Lehman noted that often, parents try to raise their kids based on who they think they should be instead of who they are.
Moreover, she explained that it could be hard and tiring to have a kid with ADHD or a teenager with ODD who is disrespectful. Sometimes, some parents might simply have a kid who is different from them.
According to Lehman, focusing on these sides becomes constant and could be a draining battle for parents.
She advised parents that once they let go and embrace who their child is, they could develop a different kind of love. She added that they could see their kids clearly for who they are.
On the website, Lehman emphasized that she discovered that genuine acceptance is one of the most powerful, loving things a parent could do for their kid. She explained that it is the foundation for so many aspects, including developing and communicating reasonably.
