Valley Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Arizona is set to offer a pickleball class for ages 10 and up.

According to the church’s website, its Health and Wellness Ministry will offer the class.

The church said pickleball is a paddle sport designed for players of all ages and abilities that is played on a court resembling a conventional tennis court.

Valley Presbyterian Church added that the game's rules are straightforward, and are simple for new players to pick up. However, for seasoned players, it has the potential to develop into a swift, competitive, fast-paced game.

According to the website, the church will be hosting Pickleball 101 in the Landes Center as an introduction to the game on Saturday, Aug. 20.

There is no required prior experience, the church said.

It added that it will supply the necessary equipment but everyone is welcome to bring their own equipment.

The church said an instructor will walk the participants through the fundamentals of paddle technique, scoring, positioning, and game play.

Valley Presbyterian Church said there are two 75-minute sessions available, beginning at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., but each session can only register a maximum of 12 players who must be at least 10 years old.

Tennis shoes and comfy attire are a must, according to the church. There will also be water and snacks available, it added.

Interested attendees may visit Valley Presbyterian Church’s website for more information.

Preschool of Choice in Community

The Valley Day School has been a preferred preschool in the neighborhood for 57 years, according to the church.

The church said the Valley Day School, which is located in the center of the Valley Presbyterian Church property, aspires to offer a setting where education and play are linked.

Each child's social, emotional, and spiritual growth serves as the foundation for our profession as educators, the church added.

At Valley Day School, the church said it works to promote self-reliance, creativity, and the understanding that God loves each and every one of people.

Valley Presbyterian Church said it values parents as partners in a child's education, small class sizes, and professional growth.

The church said it might be challenging to choose the ideal preschool, but they are here to assist families in their search.

Although the church said it does not currently offer in-person tours, they are more than pleased to talk with anyone in-depth about what Valley Day has to offer.

Church’s Services
