Atlanta First United Methodist Church announced that it is set to hold “Sunday in the Park” at Oakland Cemetery.

In a Facebook post, the church invited the public to join in the event on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

After church, the participants may head right to a fantastic lineup of vendors, food trucks, music, and more, the church said.

It added that the Tunes from the Tombs takes place at the same time as this year's event.

The church said they can attend various pop-up concerts all day long in addition to the headlining performance by the Charleston-based indie band SUSTO.

The participants can take a guided audio tour of the grounds and discover more about the legendary members interred in the cemetery at the Atlanta First booth, which will provide information on the tours, according to the church.

The church said the public may purchase tickets at oaklandcemetery.com/event/sip for $20 per person.

It, however, said that entrance is free if they volunteer to work at the Atlanta First tent. They may also find out more if they email jay@atlantafirstumc.org.

United Methodist

The church said first and foremost that United Methodists are Christians who hold the same fundamental convictions as all other Christian denominations worldwide.

It was that God, the Father, is our creator; that He interacts with and through everyone in the person of the Holy Spirit; and that His Son, Jesus Christ, came into the world, died on the cross, and was raised from the dead to save humanity from sin, the church said.

The goal of methodism is to encourage individuals to live obediently as Christians and to grow in their knowledge and love of God, according to the church.

The church said they put a lot of emphasis on practicing what John Wesley called "practical divinity," or living out one's faith and love.

United Methodist Church’s Sacraments

Two sacred rites that were carried out by Jesus and his disciples are recognized by the United Methodist Church as sacraments, according to the church

The church said they are known as Holy Communion and Holy Baptism, respectively.

A Christian's lifelong journey of faith with Jesus Christ begins at baptism, the church said. It is a sacred covenant that unites us to the church family as well as to God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Anyone of any age is eligible for baptism, and only one baptism is required. Water is used at baptism, either by completely submerging the body or by pouring or sprinkling it on the head, the church added.

The church said baptism communicates God's saving grace, the forgiveness of our sins, and new life in Jesus Christ via the power of the Holy Spirit and the water.

During the Last Supper, when Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples the night before He was betrayed and crucified, communion, also known as the Eucharist, was observed, according to the church.

The church said it sacrifices it to God as a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for everything God has done, is doing, and will do to save us and renew everything in Christ.
