The Atlanta First United Methodist Church will host its annual hanging of the greens event on Saturday, Nov. 20.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Nov. 17, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church announced that it would hold its annual holiday event on Saturday at 9 a.m.

According to the church, the Atlanta First Sanctuary will be decorated with garlands and wreaths for the Advent and Christmas seasons. It further stated that candles would be lit, and the Chrismon tree would be decked.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church said that it needs as many people as possible to make the event a success.

According to the post, there will also be Christmas music, hot cocoa, coffee, and donuts.

The church advised the attendees to feel free to wear church-appropriate Christmas pajamas and Santa hats as well.

It added that the merrier participants in the event, the better.

Clothing Supplies Donation

In the middle of the state's cold weather, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church has asked for clothes and supply donations for the homeless.

The Atlanta First United Methodist Church, in a Facebook post on Thursday, Oct. 28, called for help by contributing clothing and materials to #keepATLwarm by surrounding areas battling homelessness.

The church stated that the donated supplies would be distributed to individuals who came to the church's doors and the front door ministry.

According to the church's post, hats, scarves, gloves, earmuffs, hand warmers, blankets, socks, backpacks, emergency sleeping bags, and microwaveable soup were among the things requested.

The church said the donated items might be brought to the church on Sunday mornings and left outside the main office conference room.

Church's 'Love First' Sermon Series

Despite the Pride Parade and Festival being canceled this year, the Atlanta First United Methodist Church resumed its "Love First" sermon series on Sunday, Oct. 10.

The announcement was published on Facebook by Atlanta First United Methodist Church. According to the church, on Saturday, Oct. 9, the church's "Love sermon" series taught people how to love their neighbors.

According to the Atlanta First United Methodist Church, the event was marked by "a lot of love."

The sermon series was offered by Rev. Jasmine Smothers, according to the church. It was broadcast live on the Atlanta First United Methodist Church's Facebook page and at the church.

The Atlanta Pride has postponed all in-person festivities for the second year in a row owing to a surge in COVID-19 Delta variant cases, according to Fox 5 Atlanta report.

The Atlanta Pride Committee announced on Facebook, according to the report, that the 2021 Pride Festival and Parade, which will take place in Midtown and Piedmont Park in October, will be digital.

According to the report, the decision was taken after officials met with the community's public health professionals.

The report said all in-person events for the festival and parade in 2020 had been canceled, with the focus shifting to virtual events during Atlanta Pride.
