The Ben Hill United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, has celebrated virtually the Caregiver Awareness Day on Monday, Nov. 15.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Nov. 8, the Ben Hill United Methodist Church announced that it held a virtual Caregiver Awareness Day last Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The church said the event titled “Caregiver Awareness Day, Helping Those Who Care for Others” was held in cooperation with the Ben Hill United Methodist Church differently-abled ministry and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Pi Alpha Omega Chapter.
The Ben Hill United Methodist Church said the event was to address the devastating impacts of Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, which caregivers can also acquire.
Victoria Archable, a certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care trainer at CarePatrol of Metro Atlanta; Sharon Miller of the Madeline of Decatur, Memory Care; Monica Parker, director of the Emory Goizueta Alzheimer's Disease Research Center's Minority Engagement Core; and Stuart Zola, co-founder, and CSO of MapHabit, INC, and professor emeritus of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University, were among the speakers stated on the church's Facebook post.

Church’s History
Methodism established a new field of activity known as Wesley Chapel in the Niskey Lake section of Fulton County, Georgia, around the year 1853, according to the Ben Hills United Methodist Church's website.
According to the church, David Waits, John Waits, and Sidney Robins were among the church's original members. David Waits was a popular singer and songwriter. According to the website, he was the Chorister for both the camp gatherings and the church.
The congregation is made up of a small group of dedicated and consecrated men and women who are committed to God's service.
Following the Civil War, a post office was established near Campbellton Road and Fairburn Road.
According to the website, Ben Hill was named after Benjamin Harvey Hill, the new United States senator representing Georgia's Troup County. Senator Hill was a well-known orator in his time, and it was said that his fame gave the community a boost.

Church’s Silent Prayer Walk
The Ben Hill United Methodist Church held a silent prayer walk on Saturday, Nov. 6. They announced a silent, spirit-filled, and guided prayer walk on Saturday from 8 a.m. in a Facebook post on Friday, Nov. 5. from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The quiet prayer walk began in the Brown Parking Lot and circled the church, pausing at eight stations with a different prayer focus at each stop, according to the church's post.
As the attendees took hallowed steps on the ground, the Ben Hill United Methodist Church said the event was about walking, praying, reflecting, and envisioning.
Meanwhile, as a precaution against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the church urged participants to wear face masks.
