Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia announced the return of Voces Amicis to perform in the church.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Oct. 7, the church said the comeback performance will be on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m.
According to the church’s post, Voces Amicis is a chamber choir made up of Georgia State students, including Th0m Dixon from the school. They sing a wide range of beautiful choral pieces from illustrious traditions.
It said that the concert is free and would last for around an hour.
The church said the performance will take place in the sanctuary. It added the Central parking garage has available parking space.
Central Presbyterian Church expressed its hope that participants would return to the church after lunch at DAS BBQ since the church would be happy to host the event.
Additional information was provided in the church's Facebook post.
Worship Service
Central Presbyterian Church encouraged the public to attend the regular one-hour service in the sanctuary at 11 a.m., according to the church's website.
The choir, organ, and special guest instrumentalists will all perform a variety of musical selections during this service, which has its origins in the reformed tradition, the church said.
The congregation was promised that they would also be exposed to the Word of God through rousing sermons, dramatic and illuminating scripture readings, and liturgical artwork on exhibit in the sanctuary.
The church claimed that during our conventional services, seating is socially divided. The church stated that reservations are required in order to locate contacts.
Additionally, it requested all worshippers to wear masks while on the church grounds, even if they have had all of their immunizations.
It noted that no childcare was available at the time. Instead of shaking hands or giving each other hugs after the ceremony, people might find an opportunity to greet one another in the church courtyard.
Church’s COVID-19 Protocols
According to the church's website, the session agreed to keep Central's present COVID-19 rules in place until its meeting on Monday, Aug. 1, when protocols were reevaluated, after carefully examining statistical data and the frequency of "COVID weariness" during its meeting on Wednesday, June 29.
As it recognized the ongoing rise in COVID-19 cases in the congregation and in metro Atlanta, the church said the board shares their disappointment.
The church stated that masking is still required for all interior events at Central Presbyterian Church, including worship, meetings, and Sunday school classes.
While at Central, it gave advice on how to protect themselves, their fellow members, and those around them through masking.
The church advised people who have a household member who has tested positive for the viral infection or who know someone who has, to postpone going to in-person church events until the advised dates for isolation or quarantining have passed.
They also added churchgoers may delay going to church if they do not feel good overall.
