ChristChurch Presbyterian’s History
The Presbyterian Church in America was founded in 1973 by a group of like-minded congregations who wanted to form a denomination dedicated to the authority of Scripture and the proclamation of the gospel to all peoples, according to the church’s website.
The church’s website said the Presbyterian Church in America now has over 1800 congregations in all 50 states, as well as missionaries serving all over the world.
At the time of its formation, the denomination's motto was the same as it is now: "True to the reformed religion, faithful to the Scriptures, and loyal to the Great Commission."
Church’s Beliefs
The Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts, according to the church. In all aspects of faith and life, the Bible is infallible and divine authority.
It also believes in a single God who exists eternally in three personalities (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Lord of all things, and he is deserving of undivided attention and obedience.
All humans are formed in the image of God, according to the ChristChurch Presbyterian Church.
All people are sinners because of their willful disobedience against our Creator, and they are completely incapable of saving themselves or even cooperating with God in order to earn their salvation, the church said.
The ChristChurch Presbyterian believed that Jesus Christ is God's eternal Son who became man, lived, died, and rose again to atone for the sins of those who place their faith in Him alone for salvation. He is the only one who can bring God and man together.
It is also believed that redemption is solely through God's grace, which brings people to Jesus through the Holy Spirit. He persuades people of their wrongdoing and enlightens them so that they repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ, who is freely presented in the Gospel.
The church urged individuals all throughout the world to repent and trust in Jesus Christ because only God knows who is His.
The Holy Spirit, the church believed, provides Christians with the daily power and insight they need to walk in His will and grow in holiness.
The church also believed that Jesus Christ would come to judge all of humanity and to receive His followers into His kingdom.
