Racial Justice among Children

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church has also focused on racial justice among children this month of October.

The Presbyterian church promoted racial justice with published material on its bulletin in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

Children around the country had started the school year in the previous few months, according to the church's Facebook post.

On the other hand, according to the report, schools regularly fail to provide an equal education to all pupils.

The church stressed the need to learn about the school-to-prison pipeline and the mechanisms that frequently inhibit pupils of color from thriving in school.

It also asked participants how they could assist both kids and teachers of color in the classroom.

The church emphasized the need to support programs that allow diverse teaching staff to thrive and find measures to ensure that the material provided to children in schools reflects pupils from various backgrounds.

World Communion Sunday

The Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, performed an entire worship service to commemorate World Communion Day on Sunday, Oct. 3.

The Presbyterian church gave a sneak peek of Pastor Shelli Latham on World Communion Sunday in a Facebook post on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Latham, in a statement, said an entire worship service was held in the sanctuary and an online platform for the World Communion Day celebration.

The pastor stated that the church recalls the sister congregations from the east, west, north, and south and that during the Lord's Supper, God connects all individuals around the table.

According to a statement on the church's website, this year's service had an "Afro Caribbean vibe" as it welcomed the Pan People Steelband.

Brian Adams, who devoted time and music to the church's service last week, was also thanked by Latham.

According to the Druid Hills Presbyterian pastor, people who attended the worship were handed delicious pastries from Just Bakery on the sanctuary's lawn.

Meanwhile, Latham read a passage from Luke 14:7-14, in which Jesus asks the audience to re-imagine dinner parties by turning the traditional dinner party on its head.

The pastor went on to say that World Communion Day is one of her favorite church members' celebrations.
