First Congregational Church of Atlanta United Church of Christ (FCCUCC) expressed its anticipation for holding the annual "Holiday Jazz Vespers" on Saturday, Dec. 17, after a two-year hiatus.

According to the church's Facebook page, one of its defining missions is the Jazz Vespers ministry. It honors the inspiring and remarkable act of improvisation as well as the spiritual strength of jazz,

The post added that Holiday Jazz Vespers adds a new depth to the classic Christmas tunes, which resonate in many musical genres, particularly jazz's swinging and soulful sounds.

It announced on a Facebook post that a great evening of holiday music would be performed by vocalist Kathleen Bertrand, musicians Dwight Andrews, Doc Powell, Tyrone Jackson, Will Scruggs, Robert Boone, and Terrell Montgomery.

It added that there would also be performances by the Atlanta Jazz Chamber Chorus and creative director Dwight Andrews.

First Congregational Church is about to hold a renovation. Its about page revealed that it refurbishes the 1908-built historic sanctuary to bring back its original beauty while adding contemporary amenities that enable the church to satisfy the demands of faith and daily life in the twenty-first century.

Beyond physical renewal, the about page said that it strengthens our individual and group connections to God and our various religious traditions, including congregational, Christian, evangelical, and reformed.

The church's history page stated that FCCUCC offers important programs for people of all ages and stages of life, such as Meridian Herald, dynamic preaching, timely bible studies, and a highly regarded music ministry that includes the chancel choir, jazz chorus, jazz vespers, gospel ensemble, youth and children's choirs,

Additionally, the website said that it offers caregiver support groups, a Church After Party for Youth, a 55 Plus program, and confirmation classes for kids.

Church's Future Legacy

FCCUCC's legacy will carry on its most cherished customs. A "downtown church," First Congregational Church will continue to be, the page said.

It is located at the confluence of four dynamic forces working for peace around the globe, including the African American Christian Church, a bustling metropolis abroad, and a premier university (Georgia State University). Through the Women and Children's Shelter, a well-known organization on a global scale that promotes human rights and offers humanitarian assistance, the page revealed.

Currently, the church works to forge a New Legacy through its partnerships and connections in brand-new, new industries, the page bared.

The church claimed it is dedicated to the causes of social justice, equality, and reconciliation as a reflection of its fourfold legacy and its affiliation with the United Church of Christ.

Through its efforts in art, local and international missions, and education, First Church will keep testifying to God's presence in the world. The history section added that it is evolving into what it has been for more than 140 years.
