The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta in Georgia has called for more volunteers to serve others in many initiatives set up by the church.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, May 21, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announced that it called for volunteers to share God’s love by caring for others.

According to the church’s post, the public may learn about the various ways that volunteers may give back to the community by volunteering.

The church said they can let God's transformative light in by opening themselves up to others.

Interested volunteers may visit this page: firstpresatl.org/volunteer to learn more of other initiatives.

Church’s Care Ministry

According to the church’s website, the Flower Ministry, which is part of the Care Ministry, covers a variety of possibilities to help the church family and community outside these walls.

The church said volunteers create stunning floral arrangements for the sanctuary every week, bringing the beauty of nature into worship.

Following the worship session, volunteers dismantle the enormous arrangements into smaller ones, which are then delivered by another group of volunteers to members who are homebound, recovering from surgery, grieving, or celebrating a milestone.

Members can also donate $250 to sponsor the Sanctuary flowers in honor or memory of a loved one, and the dedication will be mentioned in the print and online bulletin.

They may also contact Pam Covington through email at pamcovington1929@gmail.com or by phone at (404) 355-5801 to be matched with another volunteer and learn hands-on how to arrange flowers for Sunday church or smaller bouquets to be delivered.

Community Ministries

The Atlanta Community Food Bank, local suppliers, and church and community members provide food to the Venable Food Pantry, according to the church.

The church said the pantry distributes over 131,000 pounds or almost 62 tons of food in a single year.

Volunteers are needed to assist in stocking up on non-perishable food products or preparing and distributing food bags, both of which provide an excellent opportunity to meet new people.

From Mondays through Thursdays, no-contact volunteers are needed to purchase, prepare, assemble, and drop off lunch packs at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta on Peachtree Street. The parking area available behind the church is protected by orange cones.

A sandwich (choice of turkey, chicken, tuna, or peanut butter and jelly; any cheese option must contain one of the meat options stated), 16 oz bottled water, an individual small bag of chips, granola bar, and individually wrapped fruit snack should be included in each lovingly packed lunch bag.

It is always nice to include a letter of encouragement or inspiration. Orders in brown or white paper bags or in boxes are both acceptable.

Meet, Greet

On Sunday, May 22, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta had a meet and greet with this year's ventures.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta welcomed the public to a meet and greet with this year's ventures on Sunday, according to a Facebook post on Friday, May 20.

One of Epiphany's main themes, according to the church's statement, is the formation of new community relationships.

With these considerations in mind, the public was invited to a Meet & Greet with this year's initiatives on Sunday, May 22. They'll be working tables before and after the 11 a.m. start time of the service.

Participants will learn about the critical work that each of these organizations is doing to better the community, as well as how to support and assist them.
