The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta in Georgia has invited the public to join the “Masterworks Concert” on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Feb. 17, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announced that it will hold a “Masterworks Concert” on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m.

According to the church’s post, the “Masterworks Concert” will be featuring principal flutist Christina Smith with the Georgia State University’s Symphony Orchestra.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta said as part of its Concerts@First music series, expect a lovely evening filled with musical talent.

Georgia State University Masterworks Concert

According to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta’s website, Michael Palmer conducts the University Symphony Orchestra in a presentation of music from three centuries, including George Walker's String Lyric, Haydn's Symphony #104, and J.S. Bach's Violin Concerto.

The church said Suite No. 2 from Bach's Orchestral Suites. Christina Smith, Principal Flutist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, will perform with the USO in Bach's Orchestral Suite #2.

This concert will take place in person and will be broadcast live on this page, according to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta’s website.

Church’s Parking Lunches

On Sunday, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta will perform service while also providing meals for the neighborhood.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta announced on Facebook on Tuesday, Feb. 15, that a "Tween Service Event: Lunch Bag Packing" will be held on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 4:30 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta kids will join for a service and fellowship event while enjoying time together while making lunches for communities in need, according to the church's post.

Church’s ‘Bach’s Lunch’

On Friday, Feb. 18, the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta hosted a "Bach's Lunch."

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta encouraged the public to attend the musical event in person or through live broadcast in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Zuill Bailey performed the Three Bach Suites for Solo Cello, according to the church.

According to the church's statement, the Grammy Award-winning cellist is one of today's most exciting performers, having recently completed his second recording of the full Bach Suites.

This musical concert was co-presented by the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta, according to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta’s History

According to the church's website, the Woodruff Arts Center is close to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, which was founded in 1848 and is located at the crossroads of Peachtree and 16th Streets.

The church claimed to be a leader in worship, spiritual formation, service, community relationships, and the arts in metropolitan areas.

Many of the families who have aided in the establishment of the area have been and continue to be members of Atlanta's First Presbyterian Church, which has celebrated a number of notable milestones.

The First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta hopes to build on these traditions as it reaches its 175th anniversary in 2023, according to the church.
