Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia announced the schedule of the next grief support group meetings.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Nov. 1, the church said the next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
According to the church’s post, regardless of the circumstances surrounding their sorrow, everyone is welcome to participate in this private time of support and sharing facilitated by CHRIS180 counseling.
Among other schedules will be held every Wednesday on Nov. 2, 9, 16, and 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Room 211 of the Church School Building.
The church said sorrow and loss can increase as they enter the Thanksgiving season and can feel more weighty than ever.
Regardless of the deadline or circumstances surrounding your loss, the meeting will be overseen by CHRIS180's Ann Marie Lehrer, it added.
Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church said counseling is available to the public for no cost. However, it added they must send an RSVP to Susan Pinson at Spinson@glennumc.org.
Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church’s Roots
According to Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, there are around 11 million United Methodists worldwide.
They added social duty and faith have long been entwined for United Methodists.
The church mentioned other examples of how it interacts with diverse Christian faiths and religions and upholds an ecumenical tradition, such as its collaborations with Emory University's Office of Spirituality and Religious Life.
It is believed that John Wesley, an Anglican minister representing the Church of England in the 1700s, was responsible for building Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church as a United Methodist congregation.
The church asserted that the growth of "Methodist" organizations was due to its members' consistent participation in religious services and volunteerism.
Eventually, the societies made it to America, where the church formally acknowledged them as a distinct denomination in 1784.
Other Activities
The church stated it was thrilled to organize its first Family Day since COVID-19 and they hope everyone can join them on Friday, Oct. 21.
According to the church, both parents and children liked this event.
The church reported that there was also face painting, a bouncy house, activity stations, music, and snacks.
The Usborne Book Fair began on Saturday with a real book sale in the Fellowship Hall.
There are teacher wish lists, according to the church. According to the church, online access to the Usborne Book Fair will be open through Thursday, Oct. 27.
Children Read Atlanta continued collecting used books until the opening in order to create room for the new books, it was stated.
The Fishburne Parking Deck on the Emory Campus also provided parking, the church stated in the same statement.
The Fishburne deck cannot be accessed from Fishburne Lane at the traffic circle prior to 9:30 a.m., according to the church. since up until that point, it could only be used as the race's starting or finishing line.
According to the church, people can travel from the building east to the Fishburne Parking Deck before 9:30 a.m.
They can take Decatur and then exit at Clifton Road, according to the church.
