The Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, collects toys and gifts for children in foster care.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Nov. 5, the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church said it would be collecting toys and gifts starting Sunday, Nov. 28, preparing for the Advent and sharing with others.

The church has also released a Christmas wish list as a guide for the donors and participants.

The items listed were headphones or earbuds with microphone (child through teen sizes), USB drives, tablets (leapfrog LeapPad, kindle, iPad, other internet-capable tablets), grocery gift cards (Walmart, Publix, Kroger), clothing gift cards (target, old navy, footlocker, amazon), family board games, arts and crafts (preschool-teen), science kits (preschool-teen), coloring books for teens, passes, tickets, and memberships to local attractions.

The church added on the list the outdoor games and activities for all ages (balls, jump ropes, badminton sets, sidewalk, chalk, yard games), books featuring a diversity of skin colors, nationalities, and abilities (infant through young adults), clothing for teens and young adults, winter clothing for infants and children (sizes six months through children's 14), diapers (sizes two to five, pull-ups), baby care supplies (crib sheets, baby gates, teething rings, safety items, pacifiers), and diaper bags.

According to the post, all items must be delivered to the office by Thursday, Dec. 2.

The Glenn Memorial said the families would receive their Christmas gifts at a special event on Dec. 11.

According to the church, all items must also be new and unwrapped (not in Christmas paper). They might also place all gift cards inside an envelope, along with the accompanying receipts (and separate the gift cards from gifts).

The Glenn Memorial underscored that all deliveries must be scheduled. It also encouraged donors to consider one of two options to help make this a wonderful holiday for children and families.

The church added that they could donate from the Christmas wish list or sponsor a child or family's wish list. Donors can contact Alyson Ackerman at aackerman@wellroot.org to schedule their drop-off or can visit the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church's website to learn more about the information written in this article.

Youth Fellowship

According to the church's website, the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church's United Methodist Youth Fellowship will meet in the Youth and Activities Building on Sunday nights from 6:00 p.m.

The church said a meal, choir rehearsals, and fun games were part of the church's event for middle and high school kids.

According to the church's website, they will also have fellowship and learn more about loving God and neighbor as is traditional for nocturnal gatherings. The worship service, according to the church, is an essential aspect of Glenn Youth's identity.

Its goal is to further God's kingdom by loving and helping our neighbors on a local and global level, concentrating on local relationships.

Participants who want to learn more about the event should go to the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church's website.

Church's Youth

According to the church's website, the Glenn Youth seeks to create a safe environment for adolescents in grades 6 through 12 to be themselves, ask questions, have fun, and learn.

The church also recognized the value of youth development and worked hard to foster an environment that encouraged it. It also emphasized the importance of building mutual trust and bonds.

The Glenn Youth group, which strives to help others in our neighborhood and around the world, welcomes and accepts everyone.

The church expressed worry for the community's health and safety.
