Global Ministries, a United Methodist Church mission organization, will facilitate its year-end "Give Love Campaign" until Saturday, Dec. 31. The group invited its members to participate in a denomination-wide campaign, which aims to bring hope and healing worldwide.

Through the work of missionaries, evangelism, church renewal, global health, and humanitarian assistance and rehabilitation, Global Ministries unites the church in mission. Every contribution helps in some way to realize its purpose, according to the announcements page of Global Ministries.

Laity and churches are encouraged to spread the word about this donation opportunity in their neighborhoods. The campaign will also help them find resources and content, including images, movies, letters, contributions to social media, and more, per the post.

Churches will have the chance to participate in the transformative missional activity that the Advance network offers for two months and see how financial contributions made through The Advance network affect the lives of their congregants, the page revealed.

Other Initiatives

Much of Haiti was reported to be still working to recover more than a year after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the country in August 2021. Certain places still require relief efforts, including food, water, and medical aid, predominantly rural areas in the south and west, based on the Global Ministries’ recent story.

Global Ministries and UMCOR have conducted an earthquake response for those still impacted by the earthquake. The organization narrated that the project also supports medical facilities and works on relief operations.

Aside from this, the Alabama-West Florida Conference received a $582,900 grant from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to provide case management and construction services following the devastation caused by disasters in Alabama and Florida in 2021, another report revealed. In 2022, the long-term rehabilitation effort will continue.

Additionally, the UMCOR has authorized more than 14 million for partners who represent a variety of compassionate ministries throughout Ukraine and its surrounding nations that have welcomed refugees, an earlier story shared.

Following the violence brought on by the war in Ukraine and Russia early this year, churches, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), ecumenical agencies, and other nonprofit organizations joined forces to reach as many people as possible with care and support, Global Ministries said.

Global Ministries

Global Ministries is a mission organization of the United Methodist denomination. According to its website, the General Board of Global Ministries maintains the mission legacies of eight prior denominations as the global United Methodist mission agency.

The Rev. John Wesley (1703-1791), an English pastor, theologian, and preacher, is credited with founding the Methodist movement. The history page revealed Wesley never left the Anglican Church of England, where Methodism emerged as a revivalist movement.

The mission theology statement directs the participation of Global Ministries in the mission Dei. The commitment of the denomination to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world frames the function of Global Ministries, the about page said.

The group also believes that God alone can transform, and Global Ministries' objective is to share what God has done and is doing while also learning from what God is doing in every country where followers of Jesus Christ congregate, it added.
