Members of Ebenezer Baptist Church holds gift drive for Atlanta locals

Ebenezer Baptist Church (EBC) opened a month-long gift drive, which will be held until Thursday, Dec. 15, for locals within Atlanta, Georgia. The church's Small Group ministry invited the public to participate in the event.

In a Facebook post, the church shared three ways to participate in the Holiday Gift Drive.

It began with suggesting to visit the Virtual Angel Tree and choose a child to donate money or gift cards to.

Per the post, the church added the public could also participate in the Women's Ministry and the Georgia Department of Corrections library through book donations.

Also, the public was told they could bring wrapped toys for kids at the EBC Narthex, which the church's outreach ministry will distribute.

The church said interested individuals may email Rev. Bronson Woods at BronsonW@ebenezeratl.org.

Ebenezer Baptist Church

Ebenezer Baptist Church, an urban-based international ministry, said it is committed to fostering personal development and transforming society by helping people embrace and live out the teachings and work of Jesus Christ.

The church holds one local service at 9 a.m., while a virtual service is held at 11 a.m. All visitors must be fully immunized even if pre-registration were no longer necessary. Although not essential, boosters were recommended.

The church said the members and attendees should be prepared to present their immunization cards and identification when they enter for worship, events, or meetings on the Ebenezer site. It will also look into procedures that help speed up this procedure.

It added Facebook, YouTube, and the Ebenezer website all stream every service live.

History of Ebenezer Baptist Church

In 1886, nine years after the end of reconstruction, Ebenezer was established. Under the direction of the Rev. John A. Parker, a group of thirteen devoted people came together. From 1886 through 1894, the website said that Rev. Parker served as Ebenezer's first pastor at the church's original location on Airline Street.

Rev. Adam Daniel Williams was hired on Mar. 14, 1894, to lead Ebenezer, a struggling congregation of seventeen people. He was in charge of growing the church by about 65 members in his first year as pastor, the about page bared.

Later on, the church grew even more. The National Park Service published the Ebenezer Baptist Church Historic Structure Report in 2000 due to an investigation into the church structure. This report served as a blueprint for the church's rebuilding, the website.

With a congregation of more than 6,000 people, Ebenezer Baptist is still active in the Martin Luther King Jr. Under the vibrant direction of Reverend Dr. Raphael G. Warnock, who became senior pastor in 2005, the National Historic Site, the site said.
