Grace Midtown Church in Atlanta, Georgia, will hold "Vocāre," a weekend retreat, next year from Feb. 24 to 26 at Lanier Islands. The church will also host Vocāre gatherings on March 22, April 19, and May 17 at its main campus.

"Vocāre: Discover Your Unique Contribution to God's Healing Work in the World" is an event open for Grace Midtown Church members and residents within Atlanta, per the church’s announcement page

The Latin term "Vocāre", which means "to call, name, or summon," is the source of the English word "vocation."

According to Parker Palmer, "Vocation does not result from willfulness." The church added it means their callings are heard, not chosen, and that it comes through listening.

Grace Midtown Church believes that people were given a unique identity and purpose when God created them. God is always there to help His followers walk their path, no matter what it may be—a corporate job, a business, a piece of art, or a family concern, the announcement said.

People merely need their eyes opened to the divine opportunity to collaborate with God in establishing his good kingdom in their daily lives, according to Frederick Beuchner, who defined vocation as the place where "deep gladness and the world's deep yearning meet," per the church website.

Others might find themselves in a similar situation, sensing a change in their destiny and turning to God for wisdom and the fortitude to make a decision that might seem counterintuitive at the time, the site said.

The event is for those who want to dedicate a brief 12-week period to developing their sense of vocational calling, the events page said.

It is a process of vocational discovery intended to assist you in making room to hear from God and gain a greater understanding of how God is inviting everyone to participate in His work of world healing, the announcement revealed.

Participants would have the chance to consider their own life experiences, distinctive personalities and talents, societal contexts, and perceptions of God's direction, the page bared.

It seeks to provide the most excellent vocational discernment tools to empower participants to begin or continue a vocational discernment process with God in the community, the site said.

For early birds, registration fees range from $599 for individuals to $1,099 for couples. Standard payments before Feb. 13 range from $699 for individuals to $1,250 for couples, per the website.

After application submission, participants will undergo an entry interview, which will be scheduled later.

Grace Midtown Church

For Atlanta and cities worldwide, Grace Midtown Church is a contemporary manifestation of the early church movement, its Facebook page said.

The church is fundamentally continuing with one thought in the Temple, breaking bread from house to house, and sharing meals with one other while joyfully and sincerely worshiping God and enjoying the goodwill of all people. The Lord continually increased their number of saved people (Acts 2), the description said.

By developing disciples and launching communities on a mission, Grace Midtown will live to bring His Kingdom to this city and the world as empowered by the Holy Spirit as Jesus predicted. Every Sunday, churchgoers congregate, and throughout the week, in homes or house churches scattered around the city, the page revealed.
