The Neighborhood Church in Atlanta, Georgia will be sharing facts on Black Atlantans who have led in pursuing justice in celebration of the Black History Month.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Feb. 1, the Neighborhood Church said it will present facts about Black History Month each week, featuring Black Atlantans who have led the way in pursuing justice and have made or continue to make amazing accomplishments for society, and provide action measures to take throughout the month.
The church has released on Thursday Fact: What Is the Purpose of Black History Month?
According to the post, initially, Black History Month was intended to educate school children and young people about the accomplishments of African-Americans and other minorities. Such tales had mostly been forgotten, yet they were an important part of the national story.
It is now considered as a celebration of those who, by their activism and achievements, have touched not only the country but the entire world.
The month-long spotlight in February in the United States is a time for people to engage with Black histories, go beyond discussions of racism and slavery, and celebrate Black leaders and achievements, according to the church, citing the World Economic Forum.
The Neighborhood Church has invited the public to register for one of their book lectures or forums centered on this topic regarding the theme for 2022 Black History Month is Black Health and Wellness.

Fellowship Discussion
A small assembly of the Neighborhood Church was organized for fellowship discussion.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Feb. 7, it announced a small group gathering on Monday nights to work through The Racial Healing Handbook together, in collaboration with Compassionate Atlanta.
The church says its first gathering occurred last week, and it was a time of happy fellowship and thought-provoking discussion.
For those who were unable to join the group, the church urged them to pick up a copy of the book and was happy to chat to them about it at any time.
It went on to say that the group should keep an eye out for additional guidance and exercises that develop from the lessons they learn and discuss.

Neighborhood Church’s Blood Donation Drive
A blood donation drive will be held in the sanctuary of the Neighborhood Church on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Jan. 28, the Neighborhood Church stated that the Red Cross had been announcing a catastrophic blood shortage across the country for the preceding few weeks, the lowest supply in years.
Sign up for the church's next blood drive, which begins at 2 p.m., if you are eligible and feel comfortable doing so. from 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Neighborhood Church's sanctuary
The stations are separated by a great distance, therefore masks are required. The Sanctuary is said to include Wifi, allowing donors to work or browse while giving. There are, of course, free snacks.
