The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church announces a new treasurer and chief financial officer
In a Facebook post on Friday, May 13, the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church announced that the pending Annual Conference approval, Allison Berg will be named the next North Georgia Conference treasurer and chief financial officer, effective on July 1, 2022.
Keith Cox, who will retire on June 30 after 21 years of dedicated service, will be succeeded by her, according to the church.
Berg is currently the Associate Vice President of Finance at Emory University, the church said.
The church said Berg is a longtime United Methodist who attends Oak Grove United Methodist Church. In both her professional and voluntary efforts, she is considered as a change agent. Berg has three adult children and one grandchild with her spouse Bill.
According to the church, she is enthusiastic about the treasurer and chief financial officer positions and feels strongly drawn to the North Georgia Conference.
In early June, she will attend the Annual Conference, where members will have the opportunity to officially ratify the pick.
Berg’s Profile
Berg’s strategic and financial modeling talents influenced important Emory choices, such as the purchase of St. Joseph's Hospital, the establishment of the Emory isolation unit [essential for Ebola], and the CHOA cooperation, according to the church’s website.
The church said Berg is noted for training her employees and establishing productive, collaborative teams.
She assists team members in realizing their full potential and achieving exceptional results in support of the organization's objective.
The church said Berg "has a lot of expertise and a fantastic attitude," according to someone who worked under her for several years.
She is a pleasure to work with, laid-back, and cares about her team. She engages with us and learns about us, according to the church.
According to North Georgia Conference, Allison has worked effectively with all levels and styles of leadership at Emory, which is a vast, complicated, multi-faceted, and decentralized institution, and has earned their trust."
Her ability to perceive the big picture, identify trends and dangers, use data analytics, and deliver results has contributed to increased productivity and change, the church said.
Berg has volunteered for The United Methodist Church since she was a child. She's put her leadership abilities to work at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, where she's chaired the Board of Stewards, helped the church and pastor navigate through conflicts, and been tapped to help with the transition to a one-board model.

The United Methodist Church's North Georgia Conference invites the public to attend service loan forgiveness webinars.
The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church announced on Facebook on Tuesday, May 3 that clergy and staff of faith-based non-profit organizations may now be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
According to the church's article, however, time is of importance.
The church stated that more favorable temporary rules will expire on October 31.
