North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church hosted a “Build a Better You” old-school day party and brunch. 

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the church said the event was held on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The church, citing the studies, said people 50 and older require motivation and knowledge to lead healthier lives as they get older. 

Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century (SBC21) and Impact UMC are holding "Build A Better You Old School Day Party & Brunch" on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., according to the church.  

The church said this free event is a time to be inspired and received information to help everyone on their journey to a healthier life. 

Rev. Telley Lynnette Gadson of the South Carolina Conference, Rita Tolbert of UnitedHealthcare, and other speakers were featured,  the church said.

Church’s Denomination

The United Methodist Church is a global church of 11 million people who open hearts, minds, and doors by being actively involved in our world, according to the church’s website

The church said John Wesley and early Methodists emphasized the Christian life of practicing faith and love. 

It added that this emphasis is still characteristic of Unified Methodists today. 

North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church said it is a local frame of The United Methodist Church. It consists of eight smaller geographical divisions known as “districts,” according to the church.

The church said it is overseen by means of Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson. 

The conference is situated in Atlanta. Every year, commonly in June, laity and clergy of the North Georgia Conference accumulate for enterprise and worship at an occasion known as the North Georgia Annual Conference, it added.

Other Theological Schools

In the nation there are United Methodist theological schools (Candler School of Theology and Gammon Theological Seminary) and nine United Methodist-associated faculties and universities (Andrew College, Clark Atlanta University, Emory University, LaGrange College, Oxford College, Paine College, Reinhardt University, Wesleyan College and Young Harris College), the church said.

North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church said it has a lively camp and retreat ministry, such as Glisson Camp and Retreat Center in Dahlonega and Grow Day Camps hosted at numerous United Methodist churches. 

Related groups encompass Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers, Wellroot Family Services, North Georgia Conference Housing and Homeless Council, Wesley Woods Senior Living, Aldersgate Homes/Collinswood, and others, according to the church.

The church comprised almost seven hundred churches, greater than 1,300 clergy members, and about 310,000 lay members, it stated.

The North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church seeks to broaden principled Christian leaders, interact in ministry with the poor, enhance worldwide health, suggest justice, reply to disasters, and satisfy the venture of the denomination: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Currently, it's miles the biggest United Methodist Conference withinside the United States.
