The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church in Atlanta invited the public to join a training program that is equipped to launch and grow environmental projects in their communities.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Feb. 17, the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church announced that Global Ministries seek United Methodists to lead grassroots environmental projects.
According to the church, EarthKeepers is a training program run by Global Ministries that helps United Methodists in the United States start and grow environmental programs in their areas.
The church said eco-theology, anti-racism, community organization, and project planning are among the topics covered. During the program, each participant creates a project.
The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church said there will be two sessions in the near future.
According to the church, for the session from March 18 to April 2, the application deadline will be on March 1.
Meanwhile, for another session from July 18 to August 11, the deadline to apply is June 30.
‘Fresh Expressions’ Event
On Sunday, Feb. 27, the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church will host a "Fresh Expressions" program.
The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church stated on Facebook on Tuesday, Jan. 25, that it will take place in a variety of locations and with a broad group of people.
The church encouraged the public to learn more about Fresh Expressions (freshexpressionsus.org) and hear from local practitioners about how FX has helped them reach out to new people in their communities who might not otherwise join their church.
The in-person ceremony will take place on Feb. 27 at 3 p.m., according to the church. There is no cost to attend the service at Bremen First United Methodist Church.
However, the church requested that they notify them if they intend to come so that enough resources and refreshments may be prepared for the public.

The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, according to its website, has over 800 congregations, over 1,300 clergy members, and over 340,000 lay members.
Developing moral Christian leaders, engaging in poor-relations ministry, improving global health, advocating for justice, responding to disasters, and achieving the denomination's purpose of "making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world" are among its objectives.
According to the church's website, it is currently the largest United Methodist Conference in the United States.
Phishing Emails
The United Methodist Church's North Georgia Conference has issued a public alert about phishing emails posing as Bishop Sue.
The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church had previously stated that it had received several reports from pastors whose congregations had been the victims of an e-mail scam.
According to the post, several members of the church got bogus emails posing as the pastor and requesting financial aid.
The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church said the fraudulent emails contain requests for a gift card and urgent help for a loved one.
