North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church is set to hold a “Life in the Garden” retreat for gratitude, renewal, and balance this October.

On a Facebook post on Wednesday, Aug. 10, the church said the wonderful retreat for the clergy and laity will be held at Hinton Rural Life Center.

According to the church, the retreat is for anyone who has experienced or longed to experience the Power of Pause.

The theme of the retreat is "Life in the Garden: Making Space for Gratitude, Renewal, Wonder, Balance, and Delight," the church said.

North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church said the highlights include workshops held indoors and outside, exploring "sanctuary" paths and gardens, and taking time for solitude to go on walks, pray, rock in a chair, and reflect.

According to the church, Terry Hershey, author of The Power of Pause, Sanctuary, This Is the Life, and The Gift of Enough, is a writer, lecturer, comedian, and gardener.

In addition, Hershey daily writes for "Sabbath Moment," a reflection published on his website.

The church said the retreat starts on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. with dinner in the dining room of Hinton's Lodge and ends on Oct. 5 at lunchtime.

They may contact Kelli Miller at kelli@hintoncenter.org to inquire about costs and availability if participants were interested in extending their stay to cover the weekend or the remaining portion of the week, it added.
