The church Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson oversees the North Georgia Conference, which is divided into eight smaller geographical divisions known as "districts." Atlanta is the Conference's headquarters.

Food Pantry

The United Methodist Church's North Georgia Conference has requested assistance for the food pantry.

The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church noted in a Facebook post on Thursday, Feb. 24, that Acworth United Methodist Church has maintained a food pantry every Tuesday for many years.

Prior to COVID, the food pantry was run by a small group of mostly older volunteers who supplied about 30 houses every week, according to the church's website.

In just a few weeks, the ministry went from visiting 30 families per week to moreover 300 families per week, according to the church.

To meet those needs, the operation had to be changed on the fly. According to the church, the pantry needed more food, more space, and a lot more volunteers in a hurry.

Due to their collaboration with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, the organization was able to provide adequate food.
