Worship Services, Music

Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church’s website stated that it holds informal, expressively artistic, and reflective worship services.

According to the church, hymns are frequently performed with an organ or piano playing in the background. On occasion, though, more contemporary music is played.

The chancel choir also rehearses every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and performs an anthem during Sunday church services, the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church said.

The handbell choir of the church practices every Wednesday at 6:45 a.m., according to the church.

The church said its members normally give a performance during the church's Sunday morning services once a month.

Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church said it expressed a desire for the community to use its musical gifts for the good of the church.

It further stated that the Sunday services would be broadcast live on Facebook for 15 minutes each week using Zoom. The church announced that they would be taking internet comments during this period.

The church informed those who do not use Facebook that the worship videos would be posted the following week.

Even though those movies are still accessible on the church's Facebook page, visitors can return to see the page's changes.

The church advised viewers to access the videos on the church's Facebook page by visiting facebook.com/opcbrookhaven/videos.

Church’s Roots

According to the church's website, Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and must abide by the standards set forth in the Book of Order.

The church claims that a session leader co-chairs each of the five teams: Connect, Grow, Serve, and Belong (Vision Support), as well as a fifth team called Stewardship. These teams are all linked to the church's mission statement.

It was also noted that Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church deacons oversee the care ministry.

The church asserted that they were in charge of enhancing the congregation's ability to provide pastoral care and extending a helping hand to happy or sorrowful families.

It said that it used meals, rides, cards, visits, and home communion as instances of this.

The chance for spiritual growth while fortifying interpersonal ties is something that Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church emphasizes.

Through Sunday morning events and other chances that arise, they hope to create a safe environment where people's religious beliefs can be explored, reignited, and developed.

The curriculum is taught to all church officials and volunteers who interact with children, and the church has been recognized as a partner in prevention for its efforts to "build a culture that better safeguards children," according to the church's website.
