The Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia has provided humanitarian aid for affected individuals in Ukraine amid Russian invasion.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 9, the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church said it was providing critical, immediate humanitarian aid for Ukrainian people.

The church said it worked with Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, which has close mission relationships in Ukraine, provides direct financial help to two United Methodist churches in Kyiv and Lviv that provide food, shelter, and transportation for refugees escaping the crisis.

It also mentioned that they are in contact with a United Methodist Church pastor in Kharkiv, one of the most severely affected places to date, to better understand their current needs.

The church urged the public to know about these cities because they had been featured in the news.

The humanitarian crisis is worsening, but they can make a difference by contributing financial support to these pastors so that they can continue to be the hands and feet of Christ while their churches are turned into shelters, according to the church.

Seek Help For Affected People of War

With their prayers, they can also make a difference. While they are unable to reveal the names of these pastors or their churches for security reasons, they do ask that they pray for them individually as they labor relentlessly to address the needs for food, shelter, and medical treatment in their communities.

Continue to pray for God's protection over Ukraine as a whole. Over the following weeks, Peachtree Road United Methodist Church will provide opportunities for them to pray together.

They can donate online at prumc.org/give to the "Disaster Relief/Ukraine" fund, or mail a check payable to Peachtree Road United Methodist Church with a notation for Ukraine Relief.

It will also continue to support UMCOR as they deploy their efforts in the region. (If mailing, please address it to Dawn Hawkins.) They can donate directly to UMCOR, or you can send a check to PRUMC with UMCOR written on the note line.
