The Saint Mark United Methodist Church announced that a new senior pastor, Rev. Carolyn Stephens, will join the church’s family.
The church made the announcement on a Facebook post on Friday, July 8.
Rev. Stephens, the newest senior pastor, is ecstatic to be a part of the Saint Mark community, according to the church’s post.
The church said she has, however, determined that prolonging her isolation through this coming Sunday is best for her health as well as the health of Saint Markers after contracting COVID-19 this past week.
Rev. Stephens added that on July 17, at both 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., will now be the day of her first service sermon.
She will also host a welcoming reception on July 17 at 9:30 a.m, the church said.
The church said it prayed for Rev. Stephens' quick recovery, and that it cannot wait to officially welcome her on July 17.

‘Mark Your Mark’ Day
On Saturday, July 16, the Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, welcomed the public to participate in "Mark Your Mark" Day.
The Saint Mark United Methodist Church said on a Facebook post on Monday, June 27, that on July 16 starting at 9 a.m., they will come together to improve the area while spending time together until 12:30 p.m.
Projects will be offered for all physical abilities and those 13 and older, according to the church's post.
To allow them to still enjoy the weekend and get to know Rev. Stephens as their new pastor, the members will limit their labor to three hours, according to the church.
It was also mentioned that there are alternatives to on-site help.
According to the post, this is a terrific opportunity for a group effort in memory or in honor of someone who helped Saint Mark become what it is today.
In order to assist the volunteer teams in planning, interested individuals are encouraged to fill out the sign-up form and RSVP to the Facebook event so they can provide any necessary updates.
