The Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia said it is officially sponsoring an Afghan refugee family.

A Facebook post on Wednesday, March 2, said it will help them resettle of an Afghan refugee family.

The Shallowford Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce that it is officially sponsoring an Afghan refugee family, and it is seeking public assistance.

The church encouraged the public to sign up to donate new or gently used items by March 19, 2022, to help them construct a warm and inviting home for their family.

Church’s Online Worship Service

The Shallowford Presbyterian Church performed an online worship session during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To help minimize the spread of COVID-19 infections, the Shallowford Presbyterian Church put restrictions on online worship and outdoor communions on Facebook.

On Sunday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m., the church performed an online worship service, according to the church. At 2 p.m., there was also an outdoor communion.

The public was invited to bring their own chair, dress warmly, and join the Shallowford Presbyterian Church for a 20-minute prayer and worship service.

According to the church, attendees were told to park in the lower parking lot or along the perimeter of the upper parking lot and congregate beneath the portico in the top parking lot.

Meanwhile, the Presbyterian Church has stated that on Saturday, January 15, an online worship service will be performed.

On Sunday, Jan. 23, at 8:30 a.m., there was an in-person service in the sanctuary. The event took place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Only 150 people were permitted to participate, and they were required to wear masks and maintain a safe distance between one another.

Church’s Intern Celebration

On Sunday, Feb. 27, the Shallowford Presbyterian Church had an intern celebration.

The Shallowford Presbyterian Church invited the public to breakfast with meaningful talks from interns Maggie Johnson and Asia Lerner, according to a Facebook post on Thursday, Feb. 24.

The churchwide brunch and Sunday school presentation began at 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a,.m., according to the church's post.

Interns have recounted their experiences as members of Shallowford Presbyterian Church and their effect as aspiring future pastors, according to the church.

Masks, however, must be worn at all times except when eating, according to the report.

In the meanwhile, the public is asked to attend a worship session at 8:30 a.m. in the church. 

According to the Shallowford Presbyterian Church, special offerings were gathered during the faith-filled service with the interns to support the internship program.

It also assured that it remained lively and thriving, lifting up the gifts of individuals considering a vocation to ministry, according to the statement.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Feb. 11, the Shallowford Presbyterian Church invited the public to a self-guided tour of Auburn Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 17.

The church organized a self-guided tour of Auburn Avenue, an Atlanta neighborhood that honors the history, legacy, and accomplishments of Atlanta's African Americans.
