Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia is set to hold adult ministry for a fun morning and fellowship.

In a Facebook post, the church invited the public to join adult members of the church for games, muffins, and connections.

The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Great Hall in the Shallowford Presbyterian Church, according to the church’s post.

Interested participants may call the church's office at (404) 321-1844, while no reservation required, it added.

Church’s Small Beginnings

The church expanded from these modest beginnings, according to the church. The church said it held its first three years of services at Oak Grove Elementary School.

A strategy for the orderly construction of a chapel, an education facility, and the main sanctuary was devised in 1959. In August 1961, the Carmichael Chapel was finished, and the Education Building was dedicated four years later, the church said.

The church said within a year, both the growing Christian Education ministry and the Shallowford Kindergarten and Preschool were housed in the Education Building.

The sanctuary building, which served as the centerpiece of the initial design, was completed in May 1976, it added

In 1998, a capital campaign was started, and as a consequence, the Education Building was enlarged and renovated to incorporate the Great Hall, Heritage Hall, and the Atrium, according to the church.

Throughout its history, Shallowford has been fortunate to have great pastoral leadership, the church said.

The church said after more than ten years of service, Rev. Nesbit retired from Shallowford in 1970.  Rev. Dr. Thomas L. Are replaced him, tirelessly serving Shallowford for more than 20 years before leaving in 1992, the church said.

Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. C. Gray Norsworthy was appointed in 1994 and held the position until September 2008, the church said. In response to God's call, Shallowford welcomed Rev. Christopher A. Henry as its fourth Senior Pastor in January 2011.

After more than seven years of service, Rev. Henry ended his ministry in May 2018, it added.

The Shallowford Presbyterian Church is currently a robust, thriving, and friendly church with a long history of excellent educational, missionary, and pastoral care ministries, according to the church.

It also has a reputation for having some of Atlanta's best music and youth programs, the church said.

The church said while they give thanks for the past, we also look to the future, believing that God will provide opportunities for us to serve the community in ever-greater ways and to change the world in the name of Jesus Christ. The church added that it hopes to be a "Place of Grace" forever.

Church’s Mission

Shallowford Presbyterian Church said it worships because a kind and loving God created everyone and gave the gift of grace in the person of Jesus Christ.

The church said the worship is a joyful and obedient response to God's love, and it serves as a regular reminder to everyone that God's majesty and mystery are beyond comprehension.
