Atlanta First United Methodist Church in Georgia asked volunteers to pack for the Midtown Assistance Center, Inc.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the church said that it welcomed volunteers to help pack grocery deliveries for the center.
The church said they will volunteer every Friday morning from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
According to the church’s post, those interested may join to serve the team and email serve@atlantafirstumc.org by Thursday at 8 a.m.
The church added that to keep everyone fed, a village is needed.

Church’s History
In 2022, Atlanta First United Methodist Church will commemorate its 175th anniversary, according to the church.
With such a lengthy history of service to God and the community, the story has grown to hold enormous meaning for everyone, the church said.
The church said over the years, a variety of fascinating and well-known locals have worshiped with everyone.
The Atlanta First United Methodist Church said the history begins with early missionary endeavors.
Atlanta was originally known as Marthasville, a little railroad community that served as the terminus for four train lines that were then being built, it added.
Preachers in the area were gathering groups for services, the church said.
The church said small groups held services and discussed future plans during meetings in private residences, warehouses on Peachtree Street and Auburn Avenue, and even the Georgia Railroad offices.
It said that methodists received a sizable tract of land from philanthropist Samuel Mitchell in 1845.
A triangle-shaped parcel was encircled by Peachtree, Pryor, and Houston Streets, near where the Georgia Pacific building stands, according to the church.
The church said a tiny log home with chimneys at each end was constructed.
It was also mentioned that it was a school during the week and a church on Sundays. An interdenominational Sunday school called the Union Sabbath School was founded. Presbyterians, Baptists, and Methodists all held preaching services; each group alternated their Sundays to avoid conflicts.
The church said when the ME Church North and ME Church South reunited in 1939, the name of the congregation was changed from First Methodist Episcopal Church, South to First Methodist Church.
When the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Bretheren founded the United Methodist Church in 1968, the name of the institution underwent a second name change from First Methodist Church to First United Methodist Church.

First and foremost, United Methodists are Christians who hold the same fundamental convictions as all other Christian denominations worldwide: that God, the Father, is the creator; that He interacts with and through everyone in the person of the Holy Spirit; and that His Son, Jesus Christ, came into the world, died on the cross, and was raised from the dead to save humanity from sin, according to the church.
