Embry Hills United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia announced that it is set to hold the “Called Church Conference” on Sunday, Sept. 12. According to the church’s website, the conference follows a worship service on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The church said it will decide whether or not to switch to the Simple Accountability Structure at this meeting.

Embry Hills United Methodist Church shared that they have conducted listening sessions, addressed audiences, invited other viewpoints, and worked with a coach all year.

The decision-making is the only item on the agenda, and each church member has a voice and a vote, according to the church. Dr. Jordan Thrasher has been given the power to preside as the Church Conference's presiding elder by District Superintendent Dr. Byron Thomas, it added.

The public may feel free to contact Dr. Thrasher at pastor@embryhillsumc.org for those who have any questions, according to the church.

The church advised that no one from the church will get in touch with the public and demand cash or gift cards. It clarified that those who would receive such demands may opt to delete the message, then, let the church staff know.

It also said to refrain from replying or clicking any links associated with the message.

The church asked to share the warning to anyone who may be vulnerable to the said types of scams.

Supporting Non-government Organizations

According to Embry Hills United Methodist Church, it gives money to numerous non-governmental organizations through budget giving, above-and-beyond gifts, and special events.

The church cited the American Red Cross, Advent Giving Trees, NETWorks Cooperative Ministry, and Snax Sax for Kids as examples of yearly occasions.

It also noted that during the academic year, the locally based Snax Sax for Kids program prepares weekend snack bags for 360 students from the Northlake/Tucker/Decatur Title I primary schools who are experiencing food hardship.

They feel privileged to serve as a Partner Agency for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, the church said.

Other Networks

According to the church, the NETWorks Cooperative Ministry has the church's enthusiastic backing.

The organization tries to "work with people to discover long-term solutions to poverty" by acting as a drop-off point for donations, volunteering, serving on the board, and more. It offers "food and financial help to inhabitants of Northlake-Embry Hills-Tucker."

The American Red Cross has reportedly sponsored blood drives on our campus six times a year since 2012, according to Embry Hills United Methodist Church.

To discover the upcoming one, visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code "embryhills."

At Embry Hills United Methodist Church, participating in this community service project during Advent is a long-standing tradition and a simple way to meet neighbors.

The church asserted that because they are a part of a connectional denomination, United Methodist churches can serve and donate more effectively as a whole than they can separately.
