A local pastor from Arvada, Colorado, has recently been assigned to become an associate professor at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. A notable author and podcast co-host, J.T. English, will soon teach students about Christian Theology.

New Professor at Southern Seminary

On the official page of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the school welcomed its new professor, J.T. English. The new seminary professor is a current lead pastor at Storyline Church in Arvada.

The Southern Seminary is close to the heart of English because he finished his Doctorate degree at the same university in 2015. Aside from being a proud alumnus of the school, English is said to be qualified for the job due to his credentials in teaching at the seminary.

As reported, English first experienced teaching as an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary. He then founded a church within the area called Village Church Institute.

The same institute reportedly offers students with classes in discipleship and theological training. Thus, being an educator is no longer new to English.

Combination of Theologian's Mind, Pastor's Heart

Many people in the Southern Seminary believed in the skills of English when it comes to shaping students in learning the idea of Christian Theology.

Hershael York, Southern Seminary's dean of the School of Theology, told the press release that English "combines a theologian's mind and a pastor's heart with an incredible ability to communicate biblical truth."

He added that English has profound skills and that many people have already witnessed his faithful preaching that touched their lives.

Another person that gave remarks to English is his former boss, Seminary Pres. Albert Mohler. He said that English is a true leader that can influence the young people of today regarding the culture and challenges of being part of creating their own ministry.

Mohler also commended English by saying that he is a "proud son of Southern Seminary." He concluded that having the experience of working with English as his former chief of staff was an honor for him.

Meanwhile, when asked about his position as a pastor, now that he will soon be a professor, English told the press that "I've given my life to being a pastor-theologian in the context of the local church. Now I hope to be part of raising up the next generation of faithful pastor-theologians, missionaries, and ministers at Southern."

He then added that he believed in the mission and vision of Southern Seminary and described the school as a "premier place to be trained." So far, the new associate professor confirmed that he will still work in Arvada as a pastor, alongside being an educator in the university.
